Eternal Guard - Two Thumbs Up

  • As someone who loves fighting bosses and doing boss rushes in games, SoT hasn't really scratched that itch for me for a while. The Kraken when I first encountered it was an AMAZING experience but began to grow stale as I played more.

When the Ancient Megs came out, I was disappointed in the design. Almost the exact same framework just on a slightly larger and glowing Megalodon. The only challenge was the HP pool after learning the attack patterns, which were the exact same plus an occasional explosion or squid friends

    I cannot stress this enough
I was grinning EAR TO EAR both times fighting the Eternal Guard.

It's fast, it's impactful, it has a good mix of attacks that have unique functionality, and it's the first time I've even found myself taking cover against a boss in SoT. I wish it could've been slightly harder, but that's only me.

I hope future SoT boss fights follow this fantastic pattern! Absolutely an ace in the hole with this guy!

If I may add to this, I think the boss looks amazing, and I LOVE the unique animation he does when he conjures skeletons from the ground. First time I saw him do that, I thought it was awesome. Have an upvote sir.

To the team who've designed this boss/fight mechanics, artists, you've done a beautiful job.

  • @boneheart1237 You should be able to shoot it while it's in ghost form, it gets tedious just watching it fly around, sometimes for an awkwardly long time.

It would be a hard shot to hit, but at least something to do other than just watching it dash around

  • Aye he's a fun boss.
Been balanced nicely between the run animation and vulnerable states. Right amount of threat.

Good new content and I will continue to raid the vaults post commendation completion.
