Kegs, planks, cannonballs, and fruit crate voyages

  • It's been quite some time since I have come across any messages in a bottle containing these quests (I only have between 9 to 15 completed in all of them and I've been playing on this pirate since 2021 with more than 2k hours)
Which brings me to suggest: Search Quests under Merchant Alliance. Much like a Legendary Search under Athena's Fortune, we can start a quest that will give us an opportunity to find these crates in particular islands, fill them up, and deliver them in time, like any other Merchant quest. There could be a separate quest for keg deliveries, but maybe with a different approach, where the kegs are being protected by skeletons or other foes.
I'm suggesting this because at this rate, the completion rates of these commendations are gonna take much longer than killing 5 shrouded ghosts.

You know, either that, or up the rarity of these quests around the map. These messages in a bottle quests are currently next to impossible to find!

  • me and alot of other people would also really prefer this, there used to be merchant missions for those but they got removed for some reason.
those 2 achievements can take upwards of 100's of hours just sailing and hoping you get one of those 2 mission from either a green bottle or a journal.
bringing those merchants missions back would make that grind at least doable again.
would love if they actually adress this :)

Previous Season had most of the bottles as Smuggler's Bottles, this season should have an increase in the normal bottles compared to last Season.

I'd prefer a chance them becoming part of the Emissary quests (instead or in addition to the cargo ones) or adding more of these quests in bottles as there is now a chance of multiple voyages per bottle. Or the return of quests in barrels.

Crates were never part of the buyable merchant quests, kegs were part of delivery quests some time ago though.

  • I am so close to finishing these. I've been using a map of certain islands with mysterious journals marked. Its slow and tedious. Even if I do wrap these up soon, I'd still advocate for a change to be made in their rarity. The Merchant emmissary quest is the ideal place for them. Its good to see more green bottles back on the shores of islands, though still pretty rare. Though I am not sure the flotsam spawns have been updated. I have only seen smugglers bottles floating in the debris. Could just be bad luck on my part.

  • @fry9889 Would you care to share this map with mysterious journals marked? That'd be appreciated, assuming this post goes under the radar :D

  • @lem0n-curry I'm fully aware of the rarity of green bottles lowering in favor of the new smuggler's bottles, but this was only implemented last season.

I haven't been able to find green bottles consistently since they added the mermaid shrines with their coral bottles! Ever since then, there's just hardly any green bottles, and if you find one, it's maybe a 5% chance that it'll be a crate, and I simply have not seen a keg voyage since way before mermaid shrines.

Since the Sunken Kingdom ? That even predates the introduction of Captain Voyages. doesn't it ? Most people refer to that as the decrease in those voyages, but Sunken Kingdom is more than 4 years ago !!

It does seem that the crate & keg voyages are getting the short end of the deal when they add more variation in the random voyages (not only coral & smuggler, but also OoS for getting a Skeleton Lord).

Don't get me wrong, I know the commendations are now too hard to complete and they should have found the cause and solution by now and do something about it, but just adding those voyages to the map table (even with adding finding them) is not the solution. More of them in voyages from bottles and the books, certainly and/or as reward for getting to grade 5 Merchant Emissary (the nerfed cargo runs aren't worth it anyway IMHO).

Regarding the locations of the mysterious journals, I think someone posted that in a similar topic not that long ago.

Sure, I didn't make them and I can't remember where I found them. I am using a temp image host, so they'll be up for 24 hours.

  • This and the Sunken Kingdom / Breath of the Sea voyages are an insult to our time. Let us dive to these!

  • It would be nice if we could get the scrolls back in the barrels on outposts - now that you can hide quests and purchase supplies, this should be a non-issue for all who dislike them.

  • @lem0n-curry I'm not sure if I'm misreading your reply, but I'm failing to see how adding these voyages to the quest table is NOT the solution.. It would ABSOLUTELY be the solution! It would be so that whenever I feel like grinding those particular commendations, I can do so whenever I want like the rest of the quests and commendations, instead of having to rely on pure extremely rare luck to find a rare green bottle that would contain the even more rare specific quest required.

Then those would be like any other GH chest quest - these Merchant ones you need to find (and if you read my replies, you know I agree they have become way too rare for a while now and they should do something against that), perhaps stop what you're currently doing, get the planks/fruit/balls - perhaps decreasing your own supplies) and deliver it in a certain time-frame. That's what set them apart and that still need to be part of it.

You can blame the small percent of players who complain about "Grabbing unwanted messages" when rapidly grabbing everything from barrels. Darn shame.

Seems if players cause a issue themselves, it always the games fault for it.
