Stopped playing until we can progress in safer seas!

  • Game is great but high seas are plagued with hackers/cheaters! I can't enjoy high seas when I can't play on equal terms with them! They use aimbots, wallhacks and they can even teleport to locations! And Rare doesn't even ban them! Easy-anti cheat is a joke.

For this reason I have stopped playing the game until we can progress in safer seas where there are no cheaters involved for sure.

I will not spend any more money to this game. Usually I spend more than 5000 euro for each online game I play but I won't do the same here because customer needs are not respected by the company, and when customer needs are not respected by the company I just leave the place.

I just can't comprehend how a company can ignore the same feedback that hundreds of users are giving when the complaint is always the same! Give us unrestricted safer seas and let us enjoy the game!

A former and now retired CEO of another multi million internet company taught me that you can ignore some negative feedback as a company but not when it's the same thing over and over again from hundreds of users! Now I'm building my own company for the time being (unrelated to gaming), but at least I will be listening to my users.

P.S. Watch this thread get locked from a mod with a copy-paste generic response message.
I just wanted to share with other users that I understand how you feel and I'm with you. If you want to make a difference just quit, hopefully they will learn one day.

  • @catmantei

It's a PvPvE game; be glad they gave in to the people who only want a PvE experience.

Also, loads of hyperbole in your post,

  • @catmantei Unfortunately, Rare, instead of listening to the majority of the community, is focusing only on bringing in new players and things to the Emporium to make money. The anti-cheat in the game barely works, maybe just John Anti-Cheat. What’s sad is that most of the people using cheats are fighting against Rare, who are doing nothing, and protesting against the changes.

  • Game is great but high seas are plagued with hackers/cheaters!

That's simply not true at all.

They exist, yes. Majority of them are in Hourglass to boost their friends, so rarely will you stumble across any cheater while sailing around. Last month I think I went vs a cheater once (outside of HG)
Not downplaying the cheater problem but avoiding High Seas with the excuse there is too many hackers around, is a odd one to me when it's just wrong.

Sea of Thieves is in a very odd spot where a big group can ONLY PvE and one group can only PvP. So you will have these people complaining about not getting enough PvP and those that gets frustrated over getting sunk. If Rare would listen to all the feedback on both sides, then one game would be Animal Crossing and one would be Counter-Strike. It wouldn't work and make the game lose it's soul and what makes it special. Push yourself out of your comfortzone and try doing more PvE if you are a PvPer and PvP more if you are one of the people that avoids interaction out on the seas.

Play the game how it's supposed to be, risk getting attacked/chased. That's what Sea of Thieves is about, not be alone on a huge map, and not feeling the thrill of someone might be sneaking up on you. Scared to lose loot? sell more often and scan the horizon for potential enemies.

  • If you're looking for a live service multiplayer cross platform game that doesn't have cheaters, good luck on your journey.

I'd say SOT has a relatively low percentage of them when compared to a lot of the FPS games on the market.

Are there zero? No. Never gonna happen. Is it as rampant as some folks make it out to be? No. Not even close.

  • Ahoy there @CatmanTEI

If you believe that a player you have encountered on High Seas is cheating, then you are advised to use the Report a Player function either through the website or in game (https://support.seaofthieves.com/articles/360016887200). No anti cheat is perfect, and the team at Rare are continuously in an arms race between those who are working to protect game integrity and those working to undermine fair play.

I'm going to drop anchor here, and wish you safe sails!
