Ashen Tides: Devil's Roar refresh Idea

  • After the return of Captain Flameheart in Season 13; I thought it best that the Devil's roar be given the opportunity to have a complete overhaul. So here is my Idea. Starting with smaller changes and other things

    Morrow's Peak changes and spawning
Players now have a chance to spawn at Morrow's peak
Morrow's peak now has defense emplacements all around the outpost; This is due to an increase in Flameheart's forces in the region and ancient temples and Ashen skeletons have grown stronger

Ashen Skeletons and Ashen Skeleton Ships
Ashen Skeletons have now been revamped, Fire no longer damages them but does the opposite and makes them stronger and faster. Ashen skeletons during Volcanic eruptions will now be increased in strength and speed essentially making them super charged.
Ashen Skeleton Ships have been seen around the Roar, these undead vessels are immune to fire and are stronger and faster than their normal counterparts, they fire a unique cannonball: The Cannon ball of fiery rage. This ammunition will do more damage than a wraith ball and will do fire damage.
Taking down these new Ai threats will yield a large reward of Ashen treasures but also Ashen messages in bottle quests.

    Ashen loot changes
ALL types of Ashen loot will be 2.5x more than their normal counterparts.
Furthermore Ashen versions of the Legend of the veil loot Items, Raid Voyage Items and Ghost loot can be found. As Well Ashen Stronghold items in Molten Sands (More on that later) and Ashen Captain's items.

    Volcano Changes
The Volcanoes of the Roar have gotten a change, With Geisers being completely removed from the region, However The volcanoes are now more dangerous with increased lava flows and the tephra doing more damage on ships.

    New Rowboat
Shipwrights across the sea of thieves have been tasked with creating stronger rowboats with abilities to withstand volcanoes completely, introducing the Athena's rowboat, these small vessels are capable of withstanding volcanoes and have a small item that allows players to respawn on them should they die on islands. However, they are not invincible and should the item be destroyed by enemy players or Ai entities, the rowboat will be destroyed.

    World events
Both the Ashen Winds and Ghost Fleet world events can spawn on the islands of the Roar

The Ashen Skeleton fleet returns with ashen skeleton ships taking the place of normal skeleton ships. These Ships loyal to Flameheart are carrying a vast amount of Ashen loot and a cannonball crate of fiery rage.

    Ashen Pirate Legend Voyage
The pirate lord has tasked his most loyal followers to stop Flameheart's plans in the region in a three part voyage in the region.
Pirate legends will face challenges from returning to the heart of fire to fighting Ashen skeleton ships and destroying statues of evil Ancients to be rewarded with Ashen legend loot and an Ashen Chest of legends.

    Cinder Islet Skeleton Camp
A new skeleton camp has been built on Cinder Islet where below lies the temple of the cursed ones. Unlike the other skeleton camps temple has no constellation puzzle but a clue system where bones of evil ancients must be reconstructed to complete a ritual which is worth 2-3 times more than the other skeleton camps. Non burning blade crews will have to battle through waves of evil ancient skeletons and obsidian and ashen skeletons in this lava temple and pluck the skull off the ancient skeleton to get the skull of Cursed Ancients worth 30,000 gold

Molten Sands Fortress Emergent encounter and World event
After the events of the Dark Fortresses-Flameheart has had his loyal Spanish Phantoms imprison those who betrayed him at Molten Sands.
Molten Sands is no longer a ramshackle of wooden bastion but is now a large stone fortress with contraptions to the main vault.
With The Volcano remaining dormant (For now)

    Emergent Encounter phase
Like the sea forts in the wider world, Crews can raid Molten sands and battle the Spanish Phantoms to claim the reward. 3x more than a seafort with Ashen and Ashen ghost loot taking its place.

    World event Phase
During the World event phase A red cloud shaped like Flameheart's skull can be seen and his laughter heard all across the waves. Here Players will have the fight of their lives.

The first 3 phases are a naval battle against Flameheart's ghost ships and Ashen Skeleton ships while avoiding the fortresses fire.
Once defeated the ships will drop loot of high tier Ashen variety

The rest of the fort players will have to fight against alternating waves of Spanish phantoms, reaper phantoms, ashen skeletons and obsidian skeletons. After the player defeats these defenders, the final wave begins

The final phase has the previous dormant volcano erupt and players now have to fight an Ashen lord once defeated the Ashen Lord drops half the key to the vault, however the Ashen lord once defeated calls in for reinforcements in the form of a large ashen skeleton ship. The Ashen Dragon Returns! After defeating the ashen Dragon a variety of high tier ashen loot will be dropped along with the second half of the Vault key.

Once combining both have of the key. Players can now open the vault in which they will be handsomely rewarded. Namely with 4 sets of each type of ashen stronghold loot (Like 4 Ashen Stronghold Chests, 4 Ashen Stronghold skulls etc.). Various high tier Ashen Items and Ashen Raid Voyage Items, and 3 Ashen Chests of Legends along with various Ashen versions of the legend of the veil trinkets, and More Ashen loot. this will set this world event as the most profitable

Ashen Stronghold kegs (New keg plays)
Found within the new Molten Sands world event these new Ashen Stronghold kegs are not only worth a pretty penny to the Merchant Alliance or Reaper's bones. But can be used as a weapon!

The Ashen Stronghold keg when detonated will release and explosion 2.5x larger and deadlier than the other Stronghold barrel.

This is just an idea and I would love to hear everyone's thoughst

  • Would love to hear people’s feedback on this

  • Great idea ! And totally agree that the roar need a rework to make people want to sail in those waters again. The main problem of this area is that it is too difficult and the rewards too low.. Such an overhaul would need a hole season in my opinion, and since we already had an update about flame heart in season 13, it will take some time if you ask me... but still would be great

  • @curmbarell anything in particular about this idea that you like the most?
