Guilds and Safer Seas

  • Hey everyone! So I was looking it up online and I understand why Safer Seas is the way it is, and why Rare might not want to incorporate the ability, but I really think it would be amazing if guilds could interact with their members in a Safer Seas server.

Our guild is extremely active and likes to try to host guild events to get our members engaged, and to reward players for participating in the game by gifting them Ancient Coins and other Sea of Thieves merch as event prizes. However, it has been difficult trying to host guild events when it is impossible to get on the same server as each other.

    Types of Events:

    • Fishing competitions
    • Ship races (island to island, or through the storm)
    • Scavenger hunts

I understand why guilds can't join each other on High Seas servers, because it would be unfair if other players were ganged up on by guild alliances. I get it. I wouldn't want that for the High Seas servers. We love High Seas the way it is.

But in Safer Seas, you can't encounter other players so why not just let a couple of guild ships join each other? Maybe limit it to 2 guild ships per Safer Seas? That way at least 8 people can participate in guild events.

Our guild is super active. We play daily, sometimes throughout the entire day. We've pulled an unhealthy amount of over-nighters because we're always having so much fun on the High Seas. We never use Safer Seas because we like getting rep and milestones, and encountering other players, so having the ability to join each other in Safer Seas would not deter us from playing actively on the High Seas. We just want an easier way to host in-game community events.

Does anyone else have any ideas on a way for guilds to be more interactive?

  • That more for a private server thing. SS won’t have anything special added to it, as said by Rare.

  • @burnbacon Understood. Is there a difference between a "private server" and Safer Seas? I thought those were the same thing?

You can't earn or spend any currency in private servers and you don't get progress on commendations.
But you can get up to 6 Gallys or any constellation of 6 ships into that server.

  • the issue with guilds i think is that it would allow captaincy and sovereigns selling and guilds is a social thing which they want to be on high seas. shame on mike for saying there was a place for pve servers in sea of thieves to then give us pve mode for newbies only. its sad and disgusting honestly. but they want to sink this game thats their choice. literally pushing away millions of dollars in sales in the cash shop by pushing away the pve only crowd for the sake of sticking to their guns that this was meant to be a pvpve game. yet they have made the pvpve experience feel really gross with clunky systems and choppy gameplay and honestly over all neglect of the game. they care so much about the shared world experience yet they ignored the double gun problem for like what4 years before they even attempt a fix at animation canceling weapon swap? then they nerf speed digging.... for what? because it gave a small advantage in arena which they then deleted because they neglected to add new reward tiers so no one played there? they could have at least speed up digging when nerfing speed dig since solo play digging up Xs feel awful. like its actually physically painful how slow it is. especially getting something like a gilded voyage of luck. takes so long to dig anything up and if your solo youre just gonna tap everything once and grab the chest of fortune and run. which also seems to be rigged the order of loot you dig up so reapers chest and bounty will be early on pinging your location to the whole server. and they removed the ability to immediately bury something youve 1 tapped. so gg on that

the sad truth is in the end safer seas will be the only way to play and everything will be made accessible when they inevitably shut the servers down and no longer put out updates. then again the way they have treated adventures in this game... they threw so much hard work in the trash in these one off adventures. i wish they would say what their end of life plan is for this game. because i kinda feel like the way a lot of the in game content has gone they would think it poetic that sea of thieves is buried. no longer playable in any form and all we have left to tell each other are stories of our pirate adventures of years past. ah remember the battle for golden sands? even though it was so one sided they were too scared to reveal the numbers for the event? great times!

Well..Safer Seas isnt a PvE server, which is what a Private Server would become :P

SS servers are Free, and Im sure Private servers would cost something to run.
