Fruit Crate & Keg: It's Been 7 Months

  • 7 months ago season 11 came out and changed bottle quests, and removed quests from barrels. It also removed keg deliveries from the voyage system. Ever since then it's been a nightmare to find fruit (and other) crate deliveries, as well as keg deliveries. I make it my mission to pick up every bottle and read every journal i come across, and i come across quite a few. Yet 99% of the time, i get quests to kill skeleton captains, or dig up some kingly chests, or go pick up some cargo from someone.

The commendations for these have not changed. We're still supposed to deliver 50 fruit (and other) crates, and 100 kegs. For starters, the keg commendation should be reduced to 50 as well, now that you cannot cycle through voyages anymore to get these deliveries.

But most importantly, and i say this on behalf of every achievement hunter who have been requesting this for the last 7 months, please increase the chance to find fruit crate and keg deliveries in bottles and journals. By a sizeable percentage. Fruit crate delivery quests were already considered rare before season 11, and afterwards they have become mythical. The fruit crate delivery quest (and keg deliveries as well now) have been harder to find than the box of secrets. The only thing more rare now is the Ghost, and the fact that there's still achievements tied to it is outrageous with the way it works currently.

Quickest fix is increasing the chance to find these quests in bottles and journals. If you think this will interfere with the kingly digs and other quests that might be more appealing to other parts of the playerbase, then add other ways to get these delivery quests.

Literally all of my progress on these commendations has come from before season 11. Please fix with urgency.

  • IMO, the correct change would be to just add fruit/wood/cannonball/keg deliveries as a component of the animal deliveries and cargo runs. No reason not to at this point.

  • I could not agree more. I don't mind a long grind. But a long grind linked to brutal RNG is awful. I kinda like the idea of putting them in the Merchant emissary quest. It's not great right now, and this would really make it worth getting to and staying at lvl5 for a while. Maybe one of each (gunpowder, wood, cannonballs, fruit) at 4 different outposts?

Or maybe the message in the bottle could give more than one delivery. For example, deliver 2x cannon, 3x gunpowder to the outpost by a certain time.

    I agree! +1

I was always wondering why those were never added to the merchant quests.

  • @hefty-henri
I was just planning to write it myself, but there is already a discussion here. I completely agree, as if the most difficult achievements, of course, without taking into account the "hidden spirit".

P.S. If I were you, I would change the title of the discussion to a more understandable one for other users
In the likeness: "Very rare tasks of the trade union for the delivery of "barrels of gunpowder", "boxes of fruit", etc."

  • @whawk0 Unfortunately the amount of players SoT has that care about this issue is rather small. Completionists that played a long time before season 11 have largely finished this, so it just leaves more recent completionists in an already small percentage of the playerbase. This is the main reason nothing has been done about this problem despite this small group of people regularly making threads about it for the last half year. Hell, i made a thread about the rarity of fruit crates even before season 11, and then they nerfed them into the ground to the point of it being a game breaking issue for completionists (this is the part Rare needs to understand as apparently they still don't).

But in any case, the people who care about this problem will recognise the meaning of the title right away, and people who don't aren't likely to chip in.

I feel like there are many things in SoT, that could be much better and could have improved QoL,
if Rare would player their own game more. =)

It feels like most of the devs do not have enough time to play the game.
... or maybe they are just there to add features and do not enjoy playing the game at all?
(I do not mean that in a bad way - it is okay to do your job and enjoy it, without consuming that content yourself)

There are many ways to play in this sandbox and it often feels like some mechanics
are totally unexplored by Rare and therefor are lacking QoL features.

And you can see that, when you try to complete some of the achievements in the game. ^^
Fruit Crate and Keg deliveries are just one example that currently is quite extreme and far too Rare. ;-)

  • I have seen a big increase in crate delivery bottle missions (mainly been cannonball crates) so I suspect they have increased the spawnrate and not mentioned it

  • Agree, hope devs see this and work on it

  • @hiradc I haven't seen any increase over the last days so maybe you just got ''lucky'', but time will tell. Luck should have little to do with these types of mega achievement grinds that are done over long periods of time, there should be consistent progress for players looking to chip away at these. Before season 11 progress was slow but pretty consistent.

  • @hefty-henri possibly luck. But for context I had needed my last cannon crate delivery for probably 6 months or so (I play every day pretty much usually several hours). In the last 2 or 3 months I've seen 3 or 4 cannon crate missions. So I'm not saying very common, but compared to before that...

  • @capt-soul-beard we seem to be many requesting this that they buff the merchant kegs/crates. Fingers crossed for an improvement on this in the upcoming seasons.

  • Should add damaged wood and fruit crates to meg/kraken loot rng (higher rng) and then people can repair it with a piece of wood and top them off and deliver it to a location for commendation credit. Delivery notes on the crates.

Then it's like a recovery and delivery and adds something fresh to improved rng for the comm.

  • @wolfmanbush Adding a decent chance to get delivery notes on crates and kegs found floating/on islands would also be a big help. I'd enjoy them being part of the meg hunt, but then meg spawns would have to be fairly common and consistent, and they rarely are these days.

Oh, interesting idea. I like it!
