  • @cokefulgamer I think VI Vessels are quite enough. At least for Now, Until 'Em Introduce a New Region.

  • @selgewick i recently got back into sea of thieves so i dont know much but what i do know is that having like 4 people is always not a single fix and me and my friends really want that whatever it is to get more bigger ships so that we can all play togeth before we give up/ lose intreast(cant spell pretty frantic rn)

  • @cokefulgamer Oh, I see. Ye meant Crew Size, Not the Ship Limit on the Seas.

  • @cokefulgamer there are no plans shared so far to come with a bigger ship that can hold more people.

Giving the galleon more player slots will not happen because it would destroy any semblance of balance in the game.

Requests for a bigger ship are not new, however i don't believe Rare has ever really shared a public opinion about it.

However a 6 player ship would be huge, and would have to be really unwieldy in comparison

  • 6 vs 1 scenario, our solo is never going to win. For that reason alone, this is a bad idea and the current crew sizes is balanced. Sorry, go find a ship on the same server and alliance with it so you can get your crewmates to play that way.

  • @cokefulgamer

You also have to remember that with a 16 player server cap that would "normally" allow for four fully-crewed Galleons max, if you increase any ship's crew size to six that would be almost 40% of a server's max players right there on a single ship. You could only allow for one, maybe two other ships depending upon the max crew allowance. It throws the balance off completely.

  • ya good idea

Closest we have gotten to a public opinion is talking about galleon development and it going from 5 to 4 players.

  • More people on a ship means a lot more balancing, which would take a lot of time and effort that likely would not be worth while since most people play solo or duo and rarely have enough people for a galleon consistently. More or less too many people for a single ship.

  • I’m a streamer and would personally love more players on a ship and when I realised it was only a 4 man I was pretty disappointed in 2024 we should be able to have bigger crews /partys!! Would deffo bring more players.. better content!!

  • @captain-coel yeah i meant somthing like that 6 is overboard just a suggestion but atleast 5 is what im looking into

  • @macontiktok they might have to increase server size as well or to make it more balanced make it so your party size dosent matter and you can just pick any ship so prob around increase server size and party size

It was designed for 5, they reduced it to 4 before release for balance reasons. I doubt they will ever add a larger ship. you and your friends are better off just splitting up into multiple boats

  • It's funny to me how people on the forums, upon being confronted by the explanation for why the server cap is set to a certain number of players and/or ships, the response to this is just "Oh, they should just increase the server size, then!"

Like no one on the dev team had thought of that...? "Oh damn, that's brilliant! Hey, Bill, do me a favor and hit the 'make the servers bigger' button so we've got a dozen ships and fifty players on each map. That'll fix it!"

Just adding one ship from 5 to 6 makes them laggy and affects player performance and thus, enjoyment. Do people really think they're smarter than the WHOLE production team of a game and it's a simple problem to fix? Like hit-reg? "Durr, why can't they just make it not a problem anymore?"

  • Say you're solo and you've been on for a while and have amassed a small amount of lucrative treasure, and suddenly a ship carrying 5 people is coming after you. What would you personally do? I'd really love to know the answer to that question, since you want this to happen so badly.
