PlayStation 5!

Surreal. I would've never guessed I'd live to see something this bizarre. But it's been a given for weeks now.

I own all platforms, so my main question right now is whether as Xbox or PC users we'll be able to log into PS5 with our existing pirate and how. I assume something along the lines of what CDPR did with The Witcher 3 savefiles?

Does anyone know how they’ll log in? I haven’t used consoles in years. Would they log in the same way Xbox players do? Only asking because it would be cool to have their numbers reflected in the Steam online player count, just to see how many PS5 people jumped on board. I’m guessing Steam wouldnt be involved though?

I have heard cheats are more prevalent on PS.

I hope the Xbox Controller only doesn't become PS and Xbox.

Unless they have organic interest in watching popular content I would avoid it all and focus on the game as a new player.

I had no idea who any streamers were (other than like 3 that I heard people talk about in game) until the first SoT orb.

The game is far more enjoyable without the drama of content creation, engagement farming, and excessive and draining critical/unpleasant environments.

If people stick with their friends and don't take out loss on each other they will be fine.

If they are decent to others in game they will be fine.

Form those local connections on servers, organically build the friends list through random adventure experience. Maintain the passion for the game and an appreciation for what the game offers.

New players don't need to get involved in the cliques and this and that just because others do. That's how many get discouraged.

They should build up themselves and those around them as the new generation of pirates imo. That way they don't inherit the bitterness and grudges that exist in a lot of the cliques that have been around for years.

The game doesn't need players with 20 hours talking about how broken the game is or some other narrative from the social media side of SoT, that's not organic, that's just people repeating what they hear to fit in.

Just play, have fun, encourage others, don't let others discourage you based on silliness like skill level or play style.

and never buy into the narratives that players are bad at the game or "trash". It's adventure, it doesn't matter at all. There is no skill requirement to have fun and find rewarding experiences in adventure. The discouraging stuff that people spread around is just stuff that people say, no truth to it.

SoT attracts a few different types of players but the majority is by far casual adventurers. Much of these being first time "gamers" meaning never really into multiplayer gaming much until this experience.

The smaller groups of players might not take kindly to sot's issues over time but the majority will not notice the issues much earlier on and when they do notice it they won't get as frustrated as others about it.

Some believe it's not really acceptable to have a lower performance bar but the reality is that most of the players that stick around will mostly enjoy their time in the game.

Will the game probably continue to struggle with performance? yeah I think that's the safer bet

Those of us that have worked around them for years will continue to do so until we are ready to move on and ps5 players largely won't get too frustrated at their inexperience stage, so they will have fun and newer players will be exciting for those of us that have been around a long time, we will enjoy being around new passion and people.

I don't love this thing, it was an exclusive that we have lost, i'm pretty sure that PS will not do the same thing with one of their games... but, speaking of PS dudes, they have to face a 5 years of gap with players, they have to face with the good and the bad players, with some good people and the spawnkillers.

for the game itself it could be a cool move, maybe they will increase the lifetime of sot, but i hope the servers will not suffer this thing, maybe we have to create an account in the website to play in cross platform like cod or fortnite, maybe the big AAH update of this week was for that, i don't know

oh and PLEASE, don't create a stupid The last of us- themed pack, please. i'm tired to see that thing everywhere

@pithyrumble i hope too, if i cannot have the 100% of achievements, they won't have the possibility to platinate it too

@lpsgizmo i thnk they will separate servers with controller imput and M&K imput, for me it's easier to filter. i have, as a team xbox, some inner hate for the PS, and considering who usually buy that, i'd love to not enter in a server with a sony dude but maybe not every guy in PS5 will buy sot, and they put all togheter to avoid a lot of empty servers

I'd gladly get that. Even better, an Uncharted or God of War one. Those would look awesome in a pirate game. I'm an Xbox user and I don't care for Halo or Gears sets—and I even like Gears (the Bleszinski trilogy at least). The more the better.

Man, that Duke set is one of the tackiest things available in the game. I'd burn it in a pyre if I could. But yeah, since that is a thing, a future PlayStation one or (one day, I guess) Switch one would only make sense.

Fat chance there will be a discount of any kind. My money is on having to buy the full game again, as with any other game you may want to have in a second platform. Heck, we live in age where we often have to pay again for simple upgrades for games we already have--looking at you 505 Games with Control.
