Tall tale for 2025: "Treasure Planet"

  • Sudds would relate about an old legend of pirates using boats that not only could sail, but also dive and fly.
All attempts to escape the sea of thieves by the shroud were catastrophic.
Escaping by the sky might be the way to liberation... Or a path to even more everyday pirate life problems.

    A new horizon of plunder.

Treasure Planet was one of the great movies, animated by hand, that Disney released at the wrong time, simultaneously with other greatly successful titles.
It's a pirate movie based on Treasure Island. It's great.
I would rate it one of the best disney animated movies.
If I remember well, it's one of the last movies Disney made by hand with traditional techniques.
The methods used were at the finest in the industry days.

I strongly believe it would give a great array of adventures to develop.

Dang... What's you folks' favorite pirate movies? Pirates of Langka Suka was great too! And "Pirates: The last royal treasure" which is also Asian. Great cinema!

  • Super cool idea! I just don't know how they'd fit aliens into the lore of SoT 🤔 I think we have a much better chance of getting a Peter Pan crossover, if Rare decides to pursue collaboration with Disney! That or maybe another Pirates of the Caribbean crossover!

  • Well, the game Craft The World had its alien invasion too.
Anything could get lost in the sea of thieves, following the mindset around the concept of the shroud.
Even the DeLorean from back from the future. ha ha
Tho, tall tales have very little influence on the open world gameplay, so it open doors to an array of fancies.

  • @spoopy9host More Jack Sparrow stuff would be cool indeed ha ha... Or maybe more focus on Elisabeth Swan and her husband, forgot the name Something Turner . There are so many great pirate movies. I wonder which are the Devs' favorites?

  • 17th Century pirates go to space? Pass.

  • You don't understand the concept of the shroud. A lot is revealed about it in the money island tall tale.

  • Alternatively, the original Treasure Island on which Treasure Planet is based could as well be an option. But it would lack the spicy Shudds lore part which makes the idea have ground. In space.

  • @howardlorecraft totally agree! Probably won't happen, but if Barbosa turns out to be the captain... good golly 🤯

  • Surest thing is that they're huge fans of pirate stories so we have to expect they'll pick a new favorite for 2025 after Helaine, Guybrush and his buddy Mancomb.

Pirates of Langka Suka would be cool.

Technically, like I said, even the DeLorean, Marty and Doc' could be captured by the shroud. It would be fantastic to help them build a time travel machine out of rudimentary pirate tools and a bit of order of souls necromancy. In the same mindset than the movie in which they travel in the cowboy era and build a time traveling train... Now it would be... Time traveling... Rowboat?

  • You got the makings of greatness in you, but you got to take the helm and chart your own course. Stick to it, no matter the squalls! And when the time comes you get the chance to really test the cut of your sails, and show what you're made of... well, I hope I'm there, catching some of the light coming off you that day.

Every time someone suggests this I think of the best part of the movie.

  • Treasure Island is legendary, truly sad that it got buried.
