Safer seas Feedback

  • Recently purchased sea of thieves for the safer seas update to play with my wife.

whenever we get disconnected or the game crashes, ( often ) we are given the option to rejoin the game and that's great. However it spawns you at a completely different island by yourself MILES away.

with no map markers at all for new players it makes it extremely frustrating, and a huge waste of time for both players trying to find each other again and dropping everything when you just get to your quest destination to pick up the other person. Sometimes you spawn so far away nothing even looks familiar when you are both looking at the map table so you have to sail for 30 or 40 minutes west or east until you manage to find something familiar.

I understand the decision to not include a personal map or map markers ( extremely poor decision ) in my opinion, considering its a private coop pve session.

but since these issues continue to persist can the reconnecting player at least spawn back on the ship or nearby.

The solution currently is once one of us disconnects or the game crashes we both quit and restart and lose all our progress otherwise we have to spend 30 minutes trying to find each other. or we end of frustrating and just playing something else.

  • Go swimming.

Swim a straight line from where you spawned to offshore. A merperson will appear and teleport you back to the ship.

I'm here all week with tips and tactics lol.

I have to burn some community service hours for sailing under the influence...

  • @pithyrumble Thank you you have just saved us a lot of time!!! i couldn't find the solution anywhere! Still seems silly to me we cant see each other on the map!
For new players im finding a lot of the games systems very frustrating

Even with Safer Seas you're still kicked into the shark exhibit with a bunch of raw meat tied to your belt.

Look up Rarethief.com for guides. Best in the biznizz.

Odd bug that happens randomly. With the "New" server...your gonna run into these. But dont be upset...Your alone on the server so nothing to fear.

Or...take the Mermaid, New players "Should" learn this from D1 of playing as you get messages saying "Lost at sea, take a mermaid" everything is within your grasp. As well, since your new. Why not explore the Open world and try to find each other like True lost pirates :p Explore the island, look around and name off some landmarks.
After all..the ONLY ship you will see will be your own

    The solution currently is

    Take...a...Mer...maid.

    Be nice to the newbies!

If you are close enough you should see your crew members gamertag. I’m not sure but it might be a feature that you have to turn on. I know there is an option to turn on “crew status tags” that shows when your crew dies as well as other things. I’m not sure if that option helps see others from a distance but it’s definitely a good feature to turn on

They were out of range for that. Good info tho. I play solo mostly lol.

  • Welcome on in.

You both are gonna love it after you start figuring out the basics.

It's such an exciting time when you start out, frustrations are gonna happen in this game but you'll get to a spot where you are excited to play so you can work on this or that, search for this or that, chill out, take screen shots and clips, talk to other people about the game and experiences.

    Gonna be awesome.

  • @pithyrumble

I’m sure they were. I don’t know how close you have to be exactly but this feature helps you if your ship sinks and you are forced to juggle loot or place everything on a rowboat.

The crew status tags have helped me locate crew members once I get close enough to them. I’m just providing helpful information

  • @memepatrol8351 there is an option in the settings to increase the distance you see nameplates at. The standard isn’t that far for immersion purposes (my best guess don’t quote me) but that may help in the future. You can get at least 3 islands distance worth out of it I reckon.

  • @pithyrumble He was being nice... by our salty old standards.

  • @coffeelight5545 Thankyou!

  • Part of the fun of playing this game for the first time (or most games for that matter) is not knowing what the hell is going on. If you end up playing long enough , there comes a time when you miss those first few weeks.
