Lost Shipment clues not working

  • The trading company of choice I have aligned myself with is the Merchant Alliance, but the 2 lost shipment voyages I've done so far haven't gone well.

On my first one, the first location near the starting location was there within sight of the outpost, but my clue was for an island location, meaning the next hint was beached with debris, a clue, and crates. However, I circled the island 3 times and saw nothing, even searching for more seagulls and finding nothing. However I found the key in the first wreck, so I decided to just sell it and take the small profit.

My second, however, didn't even generate the 1st clue. I sailed thrice around the surrounding area of Galleon's Grave outpost, fought a skeleton sloop, made an alliance with a reaper, and looted 2 random shipwrecks, but no matter how hard I searched there was no first clue.

    Anyone know what to do?

  • Lost shipments have been buggy since they were released

but also there are MANY situations where it's very very difficult to to spot birds, keys, etc

I did a few recently without much trouble on the bug side but even with my experience with them it was still pretty tough to find some birds depending on location. Wilds is a tough spot, rocks block stuff sometimes.

I find cranking up my brightness to help a bit during the night or in the wilds.

I hope someday they add easier to see birds as an accessibility feature for people because surely they gotta be tough for some to see.

On islands sometimes it's just 1 bottle that can be tough to find, sometimes they don't shine very well.

Was it on an island with an NPC / was a person named in the clue ? Talk to them and get a new clue, it's not always debris.

Sometimes it's not close to the starting location. In my experience setting sail on the route brings you to the flock of birds not circling the starting location.

If you found the key sail towards the destination and look for birds in the vicinity.

It's not always near the start point...just use the first map you get and follow the line...sometimes it's visually blocked by a rock...

  • @stokids3

Everyone already suggested my suggestions lol.

I will add, if you're looking through floating debris, swim down a bit and look up to the surface. Sometimes the key's blue gleam doesn't show from an angle above water.

And I add something to that: if it's on an island, it's possible, that the key is on the beach, but in the water...the gleam is also not there then...so look close everytime

  • Thanks for the help everyone, I'll remember these on my next ones and hopefully get my profits!
