Rare Saved Fort of Fortune Loot

So today I hopped on with my friend and we decided to server hop to see if we can find a server with a world event that give good merchant items. On the second server we saw a Fort of Fortune go up and we immediately put up a merchant emissary and did a trick for an emissary level and we went off. We decided on my friend driving the shop around the island in case of people who wish to inconvenience us with loot theft, and I went to do the waves. I got through a lot of waves when my friend said he wanted to help with the waves as there were absolutely no ships in sight, and he joined me in the skeletal slaughter, but we both agreed to be mindful of our surroundings. We eventually finished it and we decided to prioritize the merchant stuff and the Chest of Fortune and Chest of Legends. We got the stuff in the harpoon spot when all of a sudden we saw a ship coming towards us, and they were Level 1 Reapers, the biggest inconveniencers that can be on the Seas. We barely had enough time to get the legendary chests and the merchant stuff onto the ship before they were right behind us. We sailed out of there as fast as our sloop could go in hopes of getting some cannon shots on them and sinking them. As we got into an angle where we can fire away Frankie those pesky Reapers, a meg came out, and we thought it was targeting us, but it was actually targeting the Reapers. We got some shots on them when all of a sudden the meg just charged the Reapers, which caused them to sink. They didn't have anything on them besides a level 1 Reaper flag, so we decided to not take their stuff and just got the main things needed. We eventually just decided to leave some Captain's Chests and some small stuff like cup and the artifact things behind as we didn't want to risk it. We went to Port Merrick as it was the closest outpost and sold the goods, I got satisfaction with the music sting from selling the Chest of Legends, don't judge me, I just love the music sting of when it says "we shall sail together" in the female voice, it's just satisfying because you sell something big and that's hard to get. We then lowered merchants and I had gone up 1 level, putting me at merchant level 47, but so close to 48, but it's not about the levels you get, but rather the ego boost. I just want to say thanks to Rare with that meg save, and let me know of times when Rare either screwed you over or when they've saved you.
