Ocean Crawler Emergent event.

    We all know that there are already some emergent events that happen on the sea of thieves like the Skelly ship, Meg and Kraken encounter. But I think it is time that there was a new emergent threat on the seas. that is why I have came up with the idea that this new encounter would involve Ocean Crawlers. just like in The Pirates Life Tall Tale 1 these Ocean crawlers would emerge from the sea and jump on to the players ship in waves. It would contain all types of Ocean Crawler( Some would even damage the boat ,Like the big red one) and at the final wave would consist of 1 to 4 Ocean Crawler captains(Just like the standard order of souls voyage) . The loot that you may find in this encounter would possibly consist of would be:
    Siren/Merfolk gems
    coral loot like chests etc.
    and a breath of the sea.

    The reason on why I think that this new emergent encounter would be great is because with season 9 it feels like a soft reboot for the game with all the QoL features and encounters with the Meg etc. being more frequent. this would be a great time to work on something like this in a future season.

    This sounds fine but really, we need Jelly Fish.

    Makes you poisoned and disoriented like grog on contact
    Swim in swarms
    Can be fished
    Can be thrown :)
    Can be sold to HC

    we need something new for HC.
    would these spawn like sharks and sirens?
    How much would you say you could sell these for to Hunters Call?

    I'm pro emergent threats and am not opposed to the crawler theme but I've never loved the idea of stuff getting placed on the boat

    I think it adds weight to new and casual players during situations of running or pvp. With camping being such a large part of pvp I don't like the idea of pve attacks on the ship in that way.

    Perhaps if they have it to where it's not so invasive on the ship

    I was thinking they would be in schools and could be in the open sea on on some beach.

    Individually they probably would not be worth much because there would be so many in the schools.

    Might be an opportunity to introduce fishing nets.

    Yea, I think a common theme among the emergent events is the possibility to disengage/flee. If the ocean crawlers jump onto the ship, how do I disengage from the event?

    Maybe if it were the Eel-ectric exclusively and they are riding sharks and shooting ball lightning at you, so you could just sail forward?

    NGL, every time I encounter the meg I just ignore it if it isn't white. I usually ignore krakens and ships as well because the loot just isn't worth it (I'm not chasing that Hunter's commendation).

    @lordqulex obviously it would need smth to disengage. I was thinking it would be like the kraken in a way that with the water would turn a dark blue and there would be a point that it would stop to escape. The area could be the same size as the kraken

    Oh another thought... how would they sink you? Maybe the crab left unattended would just start smashing the walls/decks and put holes in you?

    Ocean crawlers also board your ship in the final pirate's life tall tale.
    It's basically a nonissue on a sloop, but my crew brought a galley to it last weekend and having pairs of ocean crawlers board at a time while we were taking shots from ghost ships and trying to avoid the tower damage fields was a new type of challenge.

    Really reworking that boss fight could make for a good world event.

    They should make a new shipwreck type.

    Surrounded by suds and ship parts. (Or ship graveyard fleet) Once you arrive the event starts for the ship, you can try to sail out but…

    Chains are latched onto your ship and start to be pulled downward. Similar to a tentacle wrap, break the chain to get free and defend against crawlers jumping your ship or sirens in the water.

    Damage to your ship sinks faster if not careful.

    They have the elements for it.

    @lordqulex The red ocean crawler normally does a ground pound attack when encountered on land. So that is possibly how it could attack the boat

    I think it's ridiculous that all it takes to best an ocean crawler is a river or lake 😂 they should be able to swim or crawl in the water and even jump up onto your ship.

    Im almost all for this idea, but if it isnt made very rare or doesnt have some indicator then i feel as the only emergent event that you cant run away from, that it would get a bit bothersome quickly.
