They make money by selling cheats.

  • Hello guys,
I'm tired of these tricks, a single person easily kills my entire crew, it doesn't die even though we all attack, it kills us again, there are many examples, I know it happens to everyone most of the time,

I did some research on this cheat to see who did it and how.
I looked, there are many cheat programs, there are many promotional videos on video sites and I saw that some cheats are sold and rented for money, fraudsters guarantee that they will not be caught, you can use it as you wish, it is so easy to reach Sea Of Thieves Cheat, there are many paid or free cheats. There is cheating software, now it is necessary to take precautions.

This needs a definite precaution, in-game reporting system, or crew-specific maps, servers without pvp.

  • Most cheats/malicious programs/scripts were advertised as safe in the history of the net

and most end up being false advertising lol, sot is no exception

paid stuff typically survives longer than public stuff but bans even happen in private, people just keep it quiet and patches are made to their programs (until something massive happens and then they typically are down for a while until they figure something new out)

There is cheating out there but make no mistake, people get banned in general and people get banned in SoT and they will continue to work on that.

  • @wolfmanbush this game still does not have an anti cheat and won't IP ban players... Ran into the exact same group of cheaters on NAE on different accounts...

Cheaters are going to be the actual downfall of this game at this rate.

The ironic thing is that the true effect of it would probably be more of the opposite

If people left in fairly significant numbers because of season 8 frustrations it would be a lot of the pvp side, and from that pve would slowly pick up from the pressure being less on them in the organic environment. Down the road that would pick up pvp again and bring pvp back again.

People cheating in sot are heavily focused on clips including known names, that's pretty much always been the social currency of cheating in sot

It's like saying the antelope will suffer because the dragons go somewhere else, organic environment activity/effect analogy not people being wrong or bad.

The risk of cheating as it exists in sot is running off some streamers but others will replace them with openings for attention being made

and running off some pvpers that may be part of the social side of the community but not necessarily in much content creation

As long as Rare doesn't just fully allow it or completely ignore it (they won't do either) it'll be like a fire that burns 100 acres, it'll burn parts down but it opens up for activity that will regrow some activity that is currently gone.

I know it's often kinda forgotten but this is a adventure game with different types of players and not just a sweaty mcsweaterton pvp game after all.

  • Funny part. Some people aren’t smart enough to google these. Yet here you are…advertising.
