Why do Gildeds take up voyage slots?

  • Seriously I don't get it.

They're considered 'special voyages' but still take up our 3 slots. They gave out 2 this year that are automatically put into your inventory. That's an immediate 2/3 slots filled meaning you can only have one other voyage on you until you use up the Gildeds or are forced to delete these once a year voyages just so you have some inventory space. Look at any other voyage given out during Live events and they do not consume a voyage slot. Fate of the Damned Voyages, Festival of Fishing, Black Powder Runs, Firework Stashes, hell even Legend of the Sunken Kingdom doesn't take up a slot, and that's not even Live Event limited.

It would make more sense for those Live Event voyages to take up inventory slots over Gildeds, as at least with those you can buy multiple of them. If you run out of inventory space you could just delete a Fishing voyage and then buy another when you have the space, no issue with deleting them. But with Gildeds you only get the 1, if you delete it then you cant just buy it back like the other Live Event voyages. It just makes no sense to me that out of all Live Event voyages, they specifically made Gildeds the one that takes voyage slots.

The Devs are well aware that players like to hoard special event voyages so it amazes me they still haven't changed Gildeds to not take a slot. I know a lot of people are hesitant to use their Gildeds immediately because they know most others are and as such theres a lot of players hunting them, as such they would rather wait a little while to use them. But that means they have to temporarily run a single regular voyage slot. Its not like they're opposed to generally changing the Gilded Mechanic as they consistently change it each year. Like this year they altered it so instead of having 4 options from Larinna and you directly buy one from her, instead you are manually given them which I guess helps lessen the amount of people who don't realise to buy it and are upset they missed out. But at the same time, as you can only ever get 1, it means you can't wait to purchase it when its convenient to you.

I really don't see any downside to making Gildeds not take up voyage slots.

On that note I still don't understand why the normal voyage capacity of 3 has been maintained all his time with how much powercreep the game has experienced, ie Captaincy Voyages of which you can hold 50, but only 3 regular voyages? I do not understand what this limitation does for anybody?

  • @frogfish12

    Tl/Dr

Because I had a second pirate with 20 something voyages from various events. And they would usually break after the events they were intended for.

This doesn't really mean anything, this only occurs when the voyage has unique mechanics, Gildeds do not and they function regardless of how old they are.
Even then you can still hold the old voyages that wouldn't work if you placed them.

If you read the post you'd see the point isn't ''I want to hold voyages for 10 years'' its that ''I don't want to immediately use it and want voyage capacity for other voyages in the mean time''.

  • Anyone know if they updated the Gilded Athena’s with more Athena loot?

  • @ninja-naranja I havent used mine but afaik they remain just as unviable as before relative to LoTV. Theres really no point to do a Gilded when they give no unique commendation progression and are about the same level of efficiency as LoTV which is just undeniably more engaging.

  • @ninja-naranja i didnt even bother checking, i threw mine out immediately

  • Was I meant to have room for my Athena gilded or was it because I had already that I received a freaking Gold Hoarders gilded?!?

  • @frogfish12 I agree, between the 2 given and the latest voyage of restitution my voyages were full too, annoying.

  • @scurvywoof I don’t think so. Man I wish it would’ve given me the choice for voyages. I would’ve picked OOS, not GH

  • @ninja-naranja

From what @Musicmee was saying they're still a mix but mostly non Athena. I might put mine down to see how bad, but probabl not until next year. Might be able to squeeze out a couple more of the new emissar reward and my Athen is in good position already.

  • @pithyrumble Pluss you do get 3 Legendary chests at the end... so if its those that you are after....

  • @musicmee is 3 chest of legends even worth it? Would you even get Emissary grade 5? LoTV guarantees you Grade 5 and gives more loot relatively than 3 chest of legends, and also progresses you commendations unique to the voyage that the Gilded does not.

Would imagine the once a year voyage should be stronger than a voyage you can get at any time and costs like 150 gold to buy infinitely.

Anyway I don't overly care to debate if its worth it, simply that, regardless of worth it, I literally cannot afford to keep these voyages as they use up 2/3 of your Inventory Slots. If they are considered ''special voyages'' they should not take up slots. Gildeds are given out during Festival of Giving which is or at least was a Live Event, all other Live events that featured unique voyages don't take up quest slots, except Vault of the Ancients because I'm pretty sure they just 1:1 reskinned the default silver vault voyage and changed the name.
