Well at least you know the answer. Much like the Appearance Potion, You really shouldnt have to change your Pirates Look or Ship Name (at all) Why would you? Made a mistake? That on you. Dont like it anymore? Buy a New Ship (cheaper and spends gold)
Rare stated that they don’t want people to change the name of the ship too often. It’s essentially like your pirate. It’s supposed to tell a story.
Also you get 250 ancient coins for free each season. Whoever said you needed to pay actual money to change your ship name? You can change your ships name every 2 seasons.

Unfortunately there are several discord servers where you pay an amount (real money) to join server alliances, one that is quite famous is a discord server called Requiem.

To add to that, Athena's Vanguard takes "donations" to get priority queue for alliance servers.
@coffeelight5545 Oh yeah, what if you made a spelling mistake, yes it's stupid to make a spelling mistake, but charging people real money instead of having a cooldown period is just predatory. Yes it's a way for the company to make money off of stupidity, but it's also extremely predatory. By agreeing with Rare on this one, you are essentially appeasing their bullying and anti-consumer tactics.
@coffeelight5545 You don't have to charge people money, you can just put a cooldown period on it of 6 months. Why not be honest and just admit that Rare are greedy, and they will find literally any avenue to make money off their players. It's predatory, and it isn't okay. If you make a mistake on a ship name, there should be no problem within the first day of naming the ship to rename it. It's obviously a money making scam, and there are simps everywhere supporting it. Unreal.
