Bring Back Pirate Legend Curse

@tank1838 Mike Chapman recently confirmed on the most recent podcast that the PL Curse is slated to return at some point. Ending the speculation that PL cosmetics from previous Seasons won't be returning: They definitely will, but it's a matter of when, not if.

Too many people missed that detail initially, mostly because it wasn't until Season 6 that ANY season cosmetics not from the Plunder Pass have returned to shops: Barrel Disguise (a popular request) and Dice Roll Emotes (which came with an achievement and commendation), and as of late, the Eastern Wind Jade Dragon Eye of Reach returned along with the mass release of the remainder of the Eastern Winds Jade Dragon set in Season 6.

PL curse coming back will be the first ever PL cosmetic from Seasons to return, which I think would be a good thing since newer PLs are kinda starved with something nice and unique to wear to show off their legendary swagger.

"Earn" It was a participation prize, not a reward, it took no effort to get, just passive play, you could get it from just sailing around if you did enough idle sailing, for something to be a reward, it has to be rewarding to gain, something you actually earn. As well they already said in their latest podcast they are still keeping to their plans to bring it back as they promised... and have said multiple times over.

I would rather want to see an alternative version be added that you actually have to earn to unlock. It would give the PL curse the significance it deserves.

Its a double standard. If the legendary curse returns then logically all the year 1 cosmetics should as well.

@alienmagi seasons still have exclusive cosmetics. And like was said a lot in this thread, the PL curse and other cosmetics were planned to return even before the season came out.

Y1 cosmetics won’t be making a return as per Rare on many occasions.

Rare significantly reduced the amount of limited time cosmetics with the start of seasons... S1 to S5 players got honestly the short end of the stick compared to earlier players and just makes those players feel like their stories are not as important (since that is the argument for limited time cosmetics). PL curse tbh is the ONLY limited time item people even recognize from that time of the game and the ONLY one people care about. This shows also the quality difference with there being countless more sought after cosmetics from before S1.

Rare really told players from S1 to S5 "We don't care about you as much as other players".

@nitroxien At that point in time people were complaining that all (most) of the good cosmetics were limited time. So Rare made a bunch of good looking cosmetics that aren’t limited time, cut down on the amount of LT cosmetics and made the majority of them not as desirable so people didn’t feel like they missed out. Obviously, both approaches have downsides. Rare can’t win in both camps, so they seem to be giving out desirable LT cosmetics in adventures and promotional material.

There are still limited time cosmetics given out. Each season has at least 6 limited time rewards, and Adventures give us 1-2 each. Not to mention most the events last year had some form of limited time reward. And the login bonuses that people have gotten like the Silvered Legendary Eyepatch.

There will be a time where people look back at the tattoos, scars, sails and adventure rewards we have now and wish they were there for them. Like the cosmetics from the first year of the game.

• The entire Frostbite Clothing set + hairs and beards
• Shroudbreaker sail, flag, makeup, scar, and tattoo
• Accomplished Parrot Cutlass, Bone Crusher Wheel, Aristocrat Hat and Kraken Lantern
• PLs even still get to have exclusively legendary hairs

I don't care what anyone says about exclusive cosmetics for Season One, just cause a set of glowy eyes, that were already slated to return, are now being confirmed to return at some point soon, doesn't mean that this season don't have exclusive time limited cosmetics.

@nex-stargaze half of what you mentioned isn’t even time limited lol. Only cosmetics named after the Season are permanently time limited. Shroudbreaker and Perilous Seas for example.

I assume we’ll get the rest of the frostbite set and they return of them clothing soon. Although those one off recolors might stay exclusive, I don’t see them getting sets to go along with them.

@ninja-naranja The point I'm trying to make is that people are bawling out over the PL Curse coming back when there are a myriad of other things newer players aren't going to have.

I wish the clothing sets would return, but it feels like none of us have been poking at the devs for these sets to return, as none of them have resurfaced since their season's debut.

@nex-stargaze I’ll always be poking them for cosmetics. But you have a good point here, there’s lots of stuff from S1 onward that will stay exclusive

Accomplished Parrot Cutlass, Bone Crusher Wheel, Aristocrat Hat and Kraken Lantern, not time limited

PLs even still get to have exclusively legendary hairs also slated to return...

The list is all of it. We got an awful sail and tattoo... the scar ain't awful I'll admit.

Y1 and Y2 players got 5x more cosmetics which accounting for time means about 2.5 times more cosmetics as early season players. Rare just does not care for early season players as much that is my only takeaway.

I don't have original BoneCrusher stuff cause I didn't like it, and I thought the BRA was annoying to complete. Same with the sails for the timed ship fight lol.

I have the lvl5 Arena sets because they lost connection one weekend and gave everyone a bunch of rep across all factions. I hadn't even touched arena when it happened.

I have Merrick's speaking trumpet amd drum but not the original Meg FH because I'm unsocial and didn't want to do it 5x. I was not cranky when they gave away the drum.

Time limited lets you tell a story.
Whether you got it or not. Unlocking them later for people to get them does not decrease value of MY story. I still have my story. You can have my special cosmetics. They will be added to YOUR story...but I still have MINE 💜

Let PL 100% a season as a commendation and unlock it so I don't have to hear about it anymore.

If you want to tell that you've played during Season 1, you can use items from the shroudbreaker set.

Its not even that its "now being confirm to return" ever since the start of the season, rare has been saying time and time again that it will return and isnt part of the season limited items, only items actually named after the season they are from, wont return, so every PL seasonal item and then a few other things will 100% return.

It was never time limited, rare stated before seasons even started what the criteria was for what would be time limited to that season, and what would return, all pirate legend items from seasons were guaranteed to return due to the criteria they laid out, but you never hear people demanding merricks jacket never return, you never hear people demand the bound beard return or merricks tankard, only the legendary curse!

Something isnt time limited if it was intended to return from the start, its just got a period where you could get early access to it. The courage of captaincy set thats out now, IS time limited, and will never return after the season ends, merricks jacket as it isnt named after the season, will return later.
