New Gold Hoarder Quest Type V2. SUGGESTION

  • Alright, let's try this again.

    Now, we know that the gold hoarders are collecting all the chests in the sea of thieves and sending them as tribute to the shores of gold, IE tribute peak. (After giving us our cut of course.)

    So, what if there was a new quest type where a gold hoarder sends us after their rivals tribute ship.

    Here's how i imagine it working.

    1 you accept the quest and get given the ships route and time they will pass by certain islands and the time they will make their delivery. (Yes, this quest is time limited like certain merchant voyages, take too long to complete it and you fail the quest)

    2 you can either follow the route from the start and catch up to them or sail ahead of them and set up an ambush. (PS the ship is slower than even a sloop and rides low in the water on account of all the loot, it also shines from a distance.)

    3 from this point you have 2 options. One you can sink the ship and get a reduced amount of loot OR, you can board it, and fight off the captain and the crew on their deck and drop the anchor, dropping the anchor opens the brig, which is where the treasure is kept. (It also stops the ship like usual.)

    Now to explain how to drop the anchor.

    Think of the anchor as like a combination tumbler to a safe. You can't drop it like you can a regular anchor, instead, raising and lowering it shows numbers etched into the anchor's pole. It's a three number combination

    To find the correct combination you have to find and locate various journals on the ship. The journals will contain clues like... The third number in the combination is how many days so and so spent in the tavern. You'd have to find so and so's journal and figure out how many days they spent there.

    My goal with this quest type was to introduce a "Train/bank robbery" experience.

    PS, not going to lie, GH is my least favorite faction and so I don't really know what its lovers want. Plus i'm sure there are some problems with this idea but i do NOT care enough to sit here and defend the idea all day. Anyway, have a good day. o.o/

    Gold hoarders rival each other? Aren't they all united under the cause?

    Hunting opposing factions' ships sounds like a Reaper thing to me personally.

    Hold up. Why would we get reduced amount of loot when we sink a ship, but not when we board it? Parts of it sink together with the ship or what?

    Anyway, you have something going on with this choice thing. Sink proceeds with one scenario while boarding (taking a bit more time) results to another.

    Every experience in Sea of Thieves that has anything to do with loot is a practical robbery.

    I definitely think this is something that would be very cool to see in game.

  • I like the idea, but I would change some things, I will give my suggestion, I hope you like it.

    The mission could be about the gold hoarders, but I think it would be cool instead of dropping the anchor, the whole combination being something related to the ship's vault. You would have to board, kill the crew and their captain, get the clues and then open the vault.

    Instead of dropping the anchor, time would be ticking for you to get all this done before reinforcements show up to attack you. Of course, this idea would need to be elaborated further, as I can't imagine reinforcements much harder than the cursed skelly ships, so even with the reinforcements the mission would be too easy.
