So, I lost access to my previous steam account, I logged in with an xbox account on a different account and my progress is completely gone, including my ancient coins and stuff, is there a way I could get my stuff back?

@thecypher9067 as long as you logged into the same xbox live account and had it link to the new steam account, there should be no problems. Sea of Thieves saves progress to the xbox live account.
If this is what you did and it still started a fresh profile, I would make a support ticket.
@thecypher9067 all progress and ancient coins are linked to your Xbox account, if you have lost access to that it will be very difficult or maybe even impossible to get it back
@callmebackdraft I have access to my Xbox account, the problem is that when I linked it, the progress wasn't there.
@thecypher9067 maybe a support ticket might be able to help you, in the end everything is tied to an xbox account and you need to have access to that specific account.
