Game will crash within 10 minutes of play

  • As described, I have the game on PC, from the xbox game pass store, and since yesterday, I can't play SoT without having it crash shortly after booting it. No error message either.
I've done full reinstalls, disabled my antivirus and windows firewall, double checked that I don't have any kind of overclocking, or that my temperatures get too high while playing.
Since the MS store doesn't really let me see where the .exe lives, I can't really whitelist it directly in my antivirus.

Looking at event viewer, I see this error:

Faulting application name: SoTGame.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x61a89e06

    Hope you can help me.

  • @vaklav9904 There are a few things that you can try on this help page.

  • Hi Foxdodge. Thank you for answering!

I tried every step in that website today:

-Windows 10 is up to date
-I uninstalled and reset the MS store, reinstalled and then reset Sea of Thieves ( I don't have it on Steam )
-I double checked I had the latest video drivers ( Nvidia 511.23 )
-I don't do overclocking, but I double checked again that nothing was overclocking anything in my machine
-I further uninstalled my antivirus program to test

But the error keeps happening. It reads the same in the Event Viewer as my first post.

What else could I try? I've been playing regularly before the winter break, and didn't have any issues with the game.

    Cheers

  • @vaklav9904 You could also try this, but I think the best thing to do is to raise a ticket with support as they should be able to help you narrow down what's going wrong.

  • I am also having this issue, if anyone know of any way to resolve this i would be happy.

Got an up to date gaming pc and nothing should be out of sorts that i can see.

  • Me too. This problem started 5 days ago.

  • Thanks for the response again Foxdodge. Tried the Nahimic solution as well, but didn't work. I opened a support ticket, if someone finds another solution, I'd be grateful

  • I might have found a solution. I have been having this issue this entire week now and tried most of the guides. Then i found this post right here on Reddit:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/Seaofthieves/comments/mx28pt/my_game_kept_crashing_and_i_finally_fixed_it/

After uninstalling Realtek, i haven't had any crashes that kicked me out of the game.

  • @nanodami I was having this problem after the update as well, uninstalling the Realtek driver fixed the crashing.
