Why is my fps so low (Beast Pc)

  • Hi, I have a beast PC that was running all Mythical Game Settings at 200-300 fps and now suddenly it’s only running at 30-60 even when I put all graphics settings on cursed.

I don’t have vsync or frame lock on so I’m not sure why my fps is suddenly so low.

All my other games still run at consistent 300 fps.

    My specs are:

    AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
    16 GB ram
    Nvidia RTX 3070
    2 TB storage

Please help, i’m not sure what the problem is because as I mentioned the fps stays around 30-60 regardless of if I run all mythical settings or all cursed settings.

  • You getting this problem specifically around large islands or outposts?

  • I find lowering the resolution helps a lot with increasing the framerate

He should not need to do that with his PC. That is a beast.

Then again, we haven't seen what resolution he is playing at.

I would check resolution and resolution upscale.

That 3070 should definitely be able to handle 1440p Mythical.

  • @personalc0ffee i am wondering how the 2tb pf storage is divided, is there mechanical storage (hdd) or SSD STORAGE, i have a feeling if its HDD and working on a reasonably large resolution (1440 or 4k) it might be having trouble loading in the assets fast enough

If he's got the game installed to HDD. You're definitely going to get problems trying to stream 4k textures.

The best way to do it is to put things that are constantly accessed or streaming data on the SSD and hard store things on an HDD like back ups. OS should always be on SSD and so should games, IMO.

If you're trying to do 4k, that could very well be the problem. That resolution is VERY HARDWARE intensive.

  • @personalc0ffee yeah, thats what i am thinking and also weird that he hasnt specified the storage solution he has, just the capacity

    Might not know.

Sometimes people just buy a pre-built and they don't really get into the nitty gritty with the specs.

I've built every computer in the home, but the laptops.

So I know everything about mine and I know what it should and shouldn't be doing. Which is why I get so upset about fps issues in SoT. It can be better and it used to be.
