    But pirate legend content is the end game content for those who r bored and completed everything, tried everything they could. Every game devs do this, and it has sense. What I said about tall tales, and what u said about the end game content, r not the same.

    PL content is far from end game. These days it takes about 20 hours to reach PL. what is end game content is stuff past PL 20.

    You didn’t answer my question though. Since 2 million players completing tall tales isn’t enough, how many players do you think it needs to be?

    The tall tales are fun. As long as we don't need to do them 5 times without checkpoints again with journals scattered randomly across the map.

    3 was a good number for them imo.

    I only server hop for ships at this point after finishing almost everything their is to do that doesn't included fishing. And even I don't mind them.

You surely know this is a PvEPvP kind of game , some say that it doesn't work and i say that it does work ... We are both Pirates , yes? So we are bound to nothing , go fight pillage plunder and burn ...That's allright , i like that too ,not that often as i'm more of a defending pirate instead of an attacking Pirate ...But , i do , from time to time , just to relax and aimlessly sail the Sea , and guess what : i simply can because ... The Developers have made it this way ...And Tall Tales , like i've said before ,they are Sacred , and for me Pirates that play a Tall Tale , need to be left alone ,if...they aren't attacking that is...

    When you follow this game a bit then you will see that this game has Seasons now, then there is a Season about Tall Tales , which are mostly praised and the season later it is more about the sailing and PvP about this game so in short , there is something to enjoy for everyone , but focussing solely on one kind of player would make Rare shoot themselves in the foot as they try to gather as much Pirates as possible with all kinds of preferences and likings...

    If i was you , and yes i ain't i know that, but i would linger on for a few Seasons ,just to see that you and me are getting what we want , we just don't get it every Season , but that's allright ...for me. i love this game for the full package , and not just a nut or a cookie in the corner of the box ... Just game, man , release that inner Pirate and if Tall Tales aren't for you then just do what you like the most , forget about them and keep playing your thing if a Season is focussed more on Tall Tales ... To be honest , it doesn't happen too often that they focus on Tall Tales because it takes truckloads of time to create ,develop and ernrole them.

    If u'd be a producer of some, for example, chocolate company, and every1 would like milk chocolate (95% for example), and other side would like default chocolate (5%). AND the question is, would u keep making product for 5%, or for 95%? Bruh.

    Bad analogy - If I want milk chocolate and the person I'm with wants the other one - we go to a place which has both, not to two places. The shop just lost more costumers than the 5%.

    Same as Tall Tales, if they wouldn't have been part of the game, it may have gotten less players interested in playing or keep interested after playing for years.

    While I do agree that the game have priorities that do not include Tall Tales right now, I disagree with your argument.

    The fact only 5% of ALL players finished a Tall Tale doesn't mean that people didn't want to play it nor that people didn't like it, it just means that many players do not engage with the game and quit early and I think Devs are aware of the new player experience issues. Almost all achievement related to recent stuff have very low %.

    The reason I think they should stop a adding Tall Tales (FOR NOW) is that the game has major problems that need to be dealt with before adding more parasitic one time content that costs a lot of time and resources to the dev team. I don't even think they did a very good job with PoTC Tall Tales: them got delivered in a very bad technical state, which is very bad for something that most people will play once and, even for who played them multiple times, most wil the first run as the most impactful one.
    The setting of first and third tales was very good, but from a game play point of view there was a lot of assets re-used way too often and most of the boss fight were objectively bad designed, the kraken one was a very big personal disappointment for me, we went from the kraken encounter (which I don't like too btw) to still target, zero interaction, zero improvement. The PoTC quotes were mostly overused or forced in (like "it's just good business", literally no sense to say that in that moment). The only parts I liked was the exploration in the first and third tall tales, the SoT related lore in the second and fourth tales and the fifth tall tale (but the part were you climb the tower). Much more could be done by reducing the tales from 5 to 3/4, getting rid of 2-3 hours of gameplay to make the others much more interesting and unique would have been much better imo, specially since length didn't matter that much, the quality of the time spent while playing is more important.

    I think people are overall fans of tall tales however the problem is that season 3 was a tall tale season followed by shrines which are also practically tall tales with most players treating them as a one and done and having finished nearly all the commendations for them within a couple of days of the season releasing. As a result, we got 2 seasons in a row of tall tales followed by a season 5 which may have taken a lot of work to implement changed the overall gameplay negligibly.

    This overall meant we got 3 seasons in a row that has not changed the overall gameplay of the game. We really need a few seasons now introducing more gameplay changes since a lot of stuff now is feeling repetitive to do and all that is left is to reaper 5 portal hop and grind out merchant animal commendations lol.

    @trappy-trapp The problem is most of the percentage isn't accurate, since alot of people just tried the game via gamepass, and decided it wasn't for them. This is why something as simple as voting for a voyage (which the game explains how the player can pick one up from the gold hoarder) is only 48.88% on Xbox. Half the players haven't ever voted on something as simple as a voyage! Same goes with putting up a emmisarry flag, the percentage of people who put up a Reaper.flag on Xbox is a pathetic 12.81%! Now most of the tall tales are locked for new players, and the ones that are not locked are The Shroudbreaker, the Seabound Soul, Heart of Fire, and the Pirates Life Tall tales. Both the SS and HoF tall tales aren't on the outpost, and are pretty inconvinient for new players to do. Which leaves the Shroudbreaker and the Pirates life TTs. And i remember doing the shroudbreaker as a new player, and i was very confused how to complete it, as it wasn't too clear what i was supposed to do. I left it off until i was more experienced, and still used a guide to help me complete it for the first time. So, that means the only TTs that are easy, advertised, and have a certain someone to atract swabies are the pirates life TTs. And they did fairly well, the first Pirates life TT completion achievment being only 2% less than the achievment for voting up a reaper emmisary flag. Fairly comparable (plus reapers and emissaries have been out much longer than the Pirates life TTs, which is my the percentage is higher) but nobody is silly enough to suggest we get rid of the Reaper Emmisary flags!

    There's any number of things to do in the game.

    You can also just sail for the sake of sailing, don't diss. Some people do that.

    whilst yes steams stats are the most accurate indication players have of judging how many people complete tall tales just using the % stat is very wrong for many reasons. this % stat is for everyone who has ever bought the game. if you own the game but never played it, if you own the game but didn't like it, if you own the game in the 4 odd years its been out and quit, if you own the game but are taking a break from the game, all these people count towards that achievement %.

    i could use steams achievement stats to paint a picture as to where tall tales are the most popular content in the game if i wanted to. for example "Night-Time Spectacular" the achievement to set off a firework at night, possibly one of the easiest achievements to obtain in the game, something which you will most likely unlock if your aware of the achievement or not has been unlocked by 2.8% of people currently. and yes this achievement is from this season and the PotC achievements were from 2 seasons ago. but it doesn't exactly look good in comparison for the point your trying to make now does it. getting to level 75 with gold hoarders 2.0%, lvl 75 souls 1.6%, lvl 75 merchant 1.4%, lvl 75 reaper 1.1%, lvl 20 athena 0.8%. i could argue from that, that infact tall tales are more popular than content in the main world.

    now personally i dont like tall tales, i accept they are not for me and not everything will be. but im not about to complain about them because clearly people do like them and this game needs all types of people to survive. what i would say however is i dont think tall tales retain players, it seems like quite alot of people come back for the tall tales and leave again shortly afterwards

    Like, the three people in this thread that explained it perfectly and you've ignored them. If the percents say something like less than half of players have eaten food, then you need to re-contextualize what your numbers mean.
    @Schwammlgott explained it perfectly in the first reply and your still denying the fact that achievement % is heavily skewed by people who own the game and don't play it, or are taking a break and missing achievements. Steam vs. Xbox doesn't matter, in general players are the same and the same things are happening.
    When you look at it, 5% is a great number and you should get off the data.

    @trappy-trapp I know, BUT us Steam users do have to make a Xbox account, meaning we also contribute to the Global Xbox achievements, while a lot of people don't contribute to the Steam stats. Not only because they play on Xbox, but because you can jusf buy the game through the microsoft store.

    The main point is the acheivement stats aren't accurate, because the actual active player base is low in comparison to all the people who ever played SoT and left for various reasons.

    Agreed, if the dev team was massive, adding more substantive content drops, I’d be stoked for the tall tales when they release. I thought the POTC tall tales were great, but have I or would I play them more than once? No. They’re undoubtedly cool and add a layer to the game, but I’d much rather have 10 QOL updates before a tall tale one.

    The number of % of players we see for x task can not be taken as accurate because it includes every player to ever play SoT, including ones that boot it up and immediately leave, never even finished the tutorial, didn't finish the maiden voyage, are game pass users who do not return, etc. All of those instances are not players. They WERE players. But it still adds to the overall player count and with that comes skewed achievement percentages.

    Ergo, you can not use that data as a valid basis of argument, well I suppose you could but it wouldn't be wise.

    As an example I have been PL since .03% of the entire player base. That number while impressive, means nothing and is not actually quantifiable because of how stat collection works for SoT. What I should say is, "I've been PL since before the Hungering Deep update." That's much more contextually accurate and is quantifiable.

    Now if they gave us the player percentage numbers out of ACTIVE players, then I think you could use those stats as a valid basis of argument.

    I hope that answer is sufficient.

    I'm not a fan of Tall Tales. Their quality varies too much and I think they are not a great use of development time.

    Most players won't touch them after completing them once or completing all commendations. Why spend so much time developing tall tales when they all become irrelevant meanwhile something like FOTD continues to be something content creators are really excited to see. No successful Sea of Thieves content creator does tall tales more than a time or two.

    The game was designed as a PvPvE game and honestly I think having these single crew tall tale experiences just don't fit, especially the 14 that take place in the actual world. They reward almost nothing after you complete the commendations. The game should be solely focused on getting loot on players ships to maintain a healthy PvPvE ecosystem which in turn engages players and makes things more interesting. There's a reason that most servers are just boring and we have so many server hoppers. Devs lost focus on what good content is.

    So, the game is made only for Content Creators?? Just let all enjoy Tall Tales.
    Few days ago, we found a SoT partner (content creator) using a bug inside a rock camping us and streaming that for all... so content creator as not the best way to ask to remove something like tall tales

    Plenty of players love the Tall Tales, and they were in fact a direct response to one of the biggest complaints about the game, which used to lack content, especially of a story-based variety, that people wanted. Not to mention the Pirate's Life Tall Tale was surely one of the biggest successes of the game's history in drawing in a ton of new players. Thus stopping Tall Tales would be a really bad idea. But if you don't like them, so what? They're literally optional, lol, so it's completely unnecessary for them to stop making Tall Tales just to appease your tastes. Other updates they could make like the ones you mention are still possible without them dropping Tall Tales altogether. Can't we have both?

    To be fair your argument isn’t very great either. A vast majority of the active player base enjoys tall tales. They are not something that we really get very often either so when we do it’s always exciting.

    I love the Tall Tales and 5% completion could mean the 100% not just the one run through some players may not want the 100% and just happy with the story also the Tall Tales have brought new enemies and places to go or reasons to go to the Devils Roar which needs more reason to go to but that another story also their are plenty of player like myself who enjoy the lore and story telling in this game if it’s not for that fair it’s an open world game where can do as you please don’t like the tall tales then do voyages or raid other crews

    And less than 5% of people have completed ANY part of the Arena achievements. Here are some more that have less than 5% completion according to the Xbox site:

    Reach top level in any company (50 and 75!)
    Delivering 25 trophy fish to hunter's call
    Upgraded a Trading Company item to its max
    Completed any Sunken Shrines
    Dug up another players treasure
    Buried treasure
    Posted Treasure Map
    Sailed in same direction as another ship without firing shots
    Purchase each resource and commodity crate
    Locate a ship manifest w/o all clues

    and quite a few more.

    So do we need to stop any development on or remove these other features (since by your "logic" no one is doing them)? Or maybe realize that you cannot really discern any useful information regarding the game by ONLY looking at the achievement data, which is skewed and off by the way (has been since the first month of the game's release). People have tried to use this information to justify many agendas or use to claim the game is "dying", only to be laughed at because of it and their improper use of analysis and mathematics.

    BTW, several of the Tall Tales chapters do have over 5% completion, the first Pirate's Life one having over 10% completion. In fact it seems more people are doing that than "grinding" the game since less than 1% have done the grinds (miles sailed, voyages completed, crates turned in, top tier emissary 5 times, etc) on pretty much any one of those you select.

    You are going to have to do better defending your position than that as you've burned out quite spectacularly.

    I have to be honest, the idea of the Sea of Thieves is its a world which is alive and changing. Tall Tales are the most important part of moving the lore and introducing new content to the game.

    I appreciate that maybe content creators or some people don't find them entertaining but maybe it's not that part of the game for them.

    For myself and I'm sure a large amount of the community the lore and the world is one of the best part of the game. I've been here since the start and watched Merrick become a faction leader, including his son Derrick who was a player creation. I've seen the world develop and grow giving us flameheart, ocean crawlers, sirens, all new content for the game which was based off tall tales.

    Even before the tall tales the lore was still in the game but harder to find like the journals for Wanda. The tall tales allow new players to be able to see the story of the game grow if they weren't there from the start. Those who jumped on for potc, could then go back and find out about the gold hoarder and Stitcher Jim and Flameheart for themselves.

    Yes, many people do tend to do these for commendations then never touch them, but I've played through them dozens of times with new players to let them experience them and enjoyed it every time (shores of gold more than bloody Briggsy but that's another story).

    As the game grows in both lore and players would you not want these new players to be able to experience events which have occurred in the past which they missed out on and potentially turn them off the game or would you rather these tall tales remained for them to enjoy again. We know that more lore based experiences are coming from the clues given and if you like a story in a world which is growing and changing why wouldn't you want more tall tales to enjoy this.

    If you just like to sail around and PvP or do quests for the fun of it that's fine, but many of us enjoy the world itself and it's everchanging ways so I would have to disagree with your idea to have no more tall tales.

    If your not happy with it not being strictly PvP tdm type game, go back to those you came from. Most of the player base likes the game the way it is, and the improvements coming. The only ones that seem to complain are the Battle Royale crowd who just want to no scope some "noob" players repeatedly in a lobby and trash talk. Sorry, but this game ain't for that.

    Tall Tales are fine, the only negative point that I can see is completing 5 times.

    One time is too much for me on shores of gold, imagine 5 xD
