new voyage types

  • we have alot of voyages, but there's always room for more, here i have some suggestions for most of the factions to improve on it.

    sea dogs:

    • bounty missions, you get a list displaying a number of players you need to kill or ships you need to sink, once you completed it, you hand in the bounty at the sea dogs tavern and get rewarded.

    hunters call:

    • grand dinner mission, you'll get a list of certain fish and meat types and a specific seapost, handing in the fish rewards like normal, but completing the entire list gives a bonus

    gold hoarders:

    • heist, you'll get an island, a general area, and a time, you need to be at that area around that time to spot a skeleton burying a valuable chest to then dig it up for yourself, digging it up will also spawn a gold hoarder themed skeleton captain that drops multiple trinkets and gold pouches on death

    order of souls:

    • skeleton ships, pretty basic, you just get an area like south of sharkbait, kinda like in cursed sails, and going there will spawn 1-2 skeleton ships

    athena:

    • haunted fortress, you need to go to a nearby fort and defeat a bunch of pirate legend themed phantoms there, dropping spectral skulls, and the boss dropping a map leading to a chest of legends
    • legendary skeleton lords, you have to track down a bunch of skeleton lords that'll drop stronghold skulls and villainous athena skulls, eventually face an extra big skeleton lord or even athena themed ashen lord, that'll then drop a map to a bunch of other athena stuff

    merchants:

    • nothing cuz no one likes them

  • Merchants may be a tad boring sometimes, but you cannot deny their profitability margins can go through the roof.

  • the heist is literally just an already existing skeleton captain with very slight alterations

the skeleton ships one already exists in the form of fleets for more difficulty and more loot and pre-spawned and targeted skelly ships for less difficulty

I've never liked this bounty idea.

I have thought about a self bounty though where people can bet on themselves and be hunted if they want and they can bet on themselves up to a certain reasonable amount and if they win according to the contracts they set and others agree to they can get extra gold based on that. By bet I think it would best be in the form of bounty costs up to a certain amount so it's like buying a voyage and if completed you get the gold back + more depending on how big of a bounty you purchased. If you lose or leave it's not returned no different than any voyage.

Any feature that incentivizes spawn killing or sinking easy targets I don't support

  • @wolfmanbush the self bounty does seem like a better idea regarding that, although it could be way easier abused (galleons constantly fleeing with the wind/sloops against the wind, or shores of gold checkpoints)

It would be a self bounty that costs potentially a lot of gold for those confident in their skills

once the bounty is purchased and the contract "signed" on the server there is no incentive to run. Failing to complete the contract is a loss for them. Maybe they will accept that loss over ego but it's a loss nonetheless.

Investment/something to gain/lose and combat consent creates less running.

the details would have to be worked out but I think this is a more workable/ less environmentally destructive direction with the bounty ideas people are always talking about
