@galactic-geek Way to much to read so i just say: "ok" -

Aww! I spent an hour writing that reply! 🥺

I spent 30min typing my wall of text so i feel ya haha (On my phone, hence all the typ0's)

Also written on my phone, and corrected typos after the fact.

  • @Galactic-Geek I am also wanted make this commendation and raise a cup of grogg in the honor of resting man.

I will not repeat the same thing about "how 8 man ally is hard to make". I will just say that forced ally is bad, but as main story about making friends - this condition is matching with it but making this tribute easy to miss. And I think it is huge miss and loss for players.

Meanwhile, I would like to focus on more problematic thing. There is no option to understand what you need to do next to open the secret door.

I mean all conditions, what should be made to open the door are quite unclear for players.

    For example:

    1. Stay in correct place (place is not marked as Glitterbeard mark or something)
    2. In correct time (only the sunset time)
    3. Play correct song (Description "Carry the legend" more about legend song for me as a clue)
    4. 8 people - ok there is marks on ground, possible to understand.
    5. As far as I also know - it should be played with correct instruments in correct places around tree. (due to youtube)

Dont you think that at least conditions, should be understandable as per journals or place?

I get spoilers by youtube "how to open it" coz I did not understand what should be next. I am keeping secret for my friends as I want them feel great. But still, there is no option (as per my humble opinion) to understand what exactly should be done. Dont you think so?

All of the clues are there - it appears that you just missed them.

  • @galactic-geek maybe translation change it. But ok, I will reread them.

I genuinely shed some tears at a videogame for the first time in years after learning the story of Glitterbeard and the meaning behind it. If you haven't done it, go figure it out. By request of me and Rare, try to do it without looking anything up. Me and a crewmate managed to figure it all out on ourselves, and boy was it worth it.

I'll give you a snipit: Imagine 4 allianced sloops all sobbing, gushing, with oohs and aahs, and some absolutely gorgeous visuals and music, and that's the Glitterbeard Experience. Go get yourself the some of the best cannon flares in the game, and a story to remember for years to come.

Rare, I am impressed. Thank you for sharing this story with us, thank you for making this so heartwarming. This is what makes you guys at Rare special. Cheers.

I rarely see anyone willing to do anything other than board and kill me... no matter what I say... so, guessing I'm out of luck on this.

  • Altough my pessimistic opinions for my change to completing this, stars started to align correctly in last couple days and yesterday evening there was 8 pirates to try match themselves into same server. Three were my friends and rest of them were friends of my friends and now they are also my friends.

After an hour we had two galleons on same server and all 8 pirates sailing towards Glitterbeard home with one common goal.

And when time was right we were able to complete last part of Glitterbeard journey. It is so sad but beautifull moment that words can't describe it or the feelings which I had.

Earlier I have always said that best moment for me in Sea of Thieves has been when I came out first time from waterfall in Shores of Gold after finishing fight with Goldhoarder. But finishing this Glitterbeard journey goes number one now.

I will thank you Rare this special and beautifull moment which you have build in the game to remember your passed away Friend and colleague. Hope his seas are now calm to sail until we all meet there and share a stories of seas.

I just hope that everyone who wants to complete this can actually do it somehow because it is such special moment.

In the spirit of yesterday moment if you come across with me in the seas and ask help from me, I will help you with this one.

we cross the sea for home
then we'll all raise our voices
                                   a song in our hearts
and set our eyes on distant shores
with wind in our sails again

  • I wholeheartedly believe this event is beautiful and all that but locking it behind needing to alliance or work with 7 other players is poor design imo. Same as anything in this game that requires more than the 1 ship. I can get behind needing 4 players that's easy enough (well if you have 3 friends) but I've been sailing around since the update dropped and nobody is willing to help on this event. People either don't trust you and run at the first sight of you or fight at the very sight of you sadly enough or they don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Unless you're in 1 of them alliance server discords or have hours upon hours of spare time or get extremely lucky you'll be hard pressed to get this event finished.

  • I've spent a lot of time trying to help people out with this now

8 times I've had 8 people at the spot and it's worked out twice

The intent is pure and the design is going to be terrible for most people on most random servers. The frustration that comes with people spending the time to gather the people only to have 1 or 2 ruin the once in a game experience because of a lack of cooperation is unfortunate.
You only get the first time experience once and if it's with a bunch of random people where at least a couple are a thorn in the side of the intent (why wouldn't they be it's a pirate game) it's leaving a lot of people happy they got it done and over with rather than happy with how the experience went.

With the reality of random servers in a pirate game in mind 5 people could have achieved the same intent without making in a frustration extravaganza. This would still keep the interactions and cooperation a priority but it would be more realistic and enjoyable given the actual environment out there.

People that argue that it should be "hard" are missing the point imo. This isn't about hard or easy it's about people being able to enjoy something special for the first time without being annoyed by the actions of a large groups of randoms around them that aren't going to all cooperate a lot of the time. Does this work out as intended sometimes? sure. did some people have a good first time? sure. Will it represent the majority? nah. Should it represent the majority in content like this? I'd say yes

  • Just finished it. It took a couple hours to get people on board. But in the end it’s worth it and pretty awesome.

Just ask around thats what i did

I took one of my main crew members on a sloop and we went around for 4 hours

I talked one galleon into not shooting and attempting to kill us by saying "hey bois if you come to this island and complete this fine quest on plunder valley you get some free worms and a banana" strangely enough that was a good reward as to which they responded "aight fair enough we're in" so they joined then we went around looking for other people almost ended up with an entire server allianced for the occasion

Making one takes time and granted not everyone is interested but keep at it

  • Did mine but it wasn’t with making friends. It was with enemies. 3 ship battle happening a fourth rolled up as we sunk the brig with the reapers L5 emissary but they dropped it. I asked and a group of enemies did the event.😂

  • The hardest part is getting 7 others together. My son has all the journals and wants to share the experience with his friends, but we can't get 2 ships on the same server. We have been trying now for 3 weeks. Our first attempt actually almost worked. Amazingly we actually got 2 galleons on the same server. then sent game invites to our friends. We had to invite a couple of Randoms, but in the end they ruined the attempt by not cooperating at the given time. SO we have been trying to just use IRL friends. Again we can't get 2 ships on teh same server. I have 4 accounts (3 pcs 1 xbox). It is very disheartening for my son who want to finish Glitterbeard. There should be away for friends to join the same server!!

  • @wolfmanbush Agreed! I sail solo most of the time, and when I found out about this I was very upset. I will never get 7 other people to do this with me. They removed Alactar from the SoT partner program for helping people get it, but what do they expect??? Most of the time they are forcing PvP on players, but then they expect you to be able to do something like this??? I can't get near 90% of players on here without some sort of altercation. I'm about done with SoT. Valheim is where it's at!

  • @galactic-geek yeah, and since SoT is a PvP based game that works out really well. Most people are not going to get this done because you can't trust anyone in this game.

  • I've been trying to do the final journal for over 2 weeks. Can't find people who are interested in it. I'm going to keep trying but it's getting really grindy. Keep getting sunk just trying to talk to people about it. Yay!

  • (Would ping but final word is restricted)
Ahoy! Bumping threads is against the forum rules. This is over a year old and the mods will lock it soon.
    @deckhands
    I did it :D

  • @scurvywoof cheers me matey!

    Dropping anchor :)
