I know the reason we can only hold one trinket at a time is most likely due to skulls. Don't want to have one faction's loot be able to hauled twice as fast, But moving past that can anyone think of a lore reason why we can only hold 1 banana, skull, goblet, or other trinket at a time?
Small trinkets and only one hand?
Well, bananas and skulls are obviously magically altered given their healing abilities and mystical nature respectively. And since most things in the Sea of Thieves are infused with magic, we can assume that the goblets, gems, and so forth are as well.
So being in direct physical contact with too much magical energy is dangerous for mortal pirates and can start corrupting them.
What they don't tell you is that every Skeleton Lord started off as a pirate who just didn't want to make multiple trips or tried to two-hand slam a couple of nanners.
