Quick win on immersion... there is no "no" to it ;)

  • Hi devs,

I was wondering why, as a merchant, you have to move hundreds of plants and luxurious cloth which feels kind of random. I can imagine that the motivation for these items was to introduce something that interacts with the Sea of Thieves elements water, shock from falling, field of sight to make the delivery quest more "challenging" than just move black-box crates of unknown content.

However, it is hard for me to imagine what an NPC can do with 6 plants of unknown purpose, and tons of cloth - especially on a sea outpost where there clearly is no room to decorate with plants, nor a dressmaking to process the cloth. So it is at least a logistic inconsistency that the NPC on Three Paces East Seapost does not order at least the cloth to the mainland instead, where the clothing is manufactured and then shipped back to the Seapost to be sold.

This is why I was thinking: why not change the deliverables to something everyone in a seafarer economy urgently needs? We definitely know from the Sea Shanty "The Wellerman" which went viral recently, that in ~ 1860 everyone was looking forward for "Sugar and Tea and Rum".

    So here is the suggestion:

    • Leave the Rum deliverable as it is
    • Change the name of the plant to "Tea Plant" since it already looks similar, no changes to the watering mechanics needed :)
    • Exchange the Luxury Cloth to a Crate of Sugar which should not get wet as well

To justify the large amounts of Tea and Sugar being delivered, Outposts could sell Tea to Sailors - but this is not a must. For the gallons of Rum, no justification needed!

    Ahoy!

  • Plants: Could be used for anything from herbs to meds. You dont know what they need it for, since the plant has no official name
Cloth: Many reasons they could use these, patch work to maybe rags.
Rum Bottles: Name says what for.

    Why bring..."Logic" into games...
As requests go and asking for change, I can see maybe why but still....Why again is this?
