So I don't believe this is a new "feature" and if it is it's a load of bulls***. Twice today when using the harpoon to grab a bomb barrel it exploded... this has not been an issue until recently. Please fix this asap as it is really quite the nuisance.
The first bomb barrel exploded when recovering from the water. The second was from dry land. For some reason the game is now registering bringing them on board with the harpoon as a hit to the ship... why?
It's been an inconsistent risk a long time
just don't harpoon kegs
if you're doing a drive by harpoon in the water and accidentally grab a keg as long as someone is at the wheel someone will survive and be on the ship to repair
I randomly spawned into an alliance server on open crew once and I saw these dudes harpooning 3 vaults worth of stronghold kegs at the FOTD
@ncc1701y I'm not sure if this is a bug. If you bump it into the hull, it'll explode. It can also explode if the keg is right next to another big item you're harpooning. The item will hit it, and the keg will catch momentum along with the item you're harpooning and aimbot-flies towards your ship. A bit cartoonish, really.
In my experience, if you see a keg all by itself, and your harpoon space on deck isn't too messy, it's always safe. If a keg is lying very close among other stuff (including other kegs): don't harpoon it OR the other stuff.
