suggestion to improve the game.

  • i relly like the game but my problem is that the adventure part is short, me and my friends played it for 2 days got the ship skin and player cosmetics we wanted and thats all. In my opinion the ships should be upgradeable with staff that improves its speed and power. Make it expensive so that it would take time to get it.

  • This is an old suggestion and it will not happen. It's pay to win Rare does not want that. The idea is everyone has the same ship, so it all comes down to skill and experience not how much money you're prepared to pay. 😉

  • @qu1etone Ok, seems fair. I would just like to see more different things to grind for.

If it's paid for with gold it's not pay to win. It's play to win.
I'm not agreeing with the suggestion though. Basic ships makes for skill to prevail.

  • @bomber-jane thats why i wanted it, i wanted something non cosmetical to play for, allthough i have to agree that the basic is good enough.

You play for the adventure me laddie!

Imagine if in the 2 days you've played you couldn't get anywhere or buy any of those cosmetics you wanted because every other ship was faster, more resistant to damage and had more firepower than you did. Some players here have played for 2 years and would for sure already have every upgrade available, which would instantly put you at a disadvantage on top of being at the disadvantage of lacking experience.

Two days and you already feel done? Yikes. There is alot more cool stuff to be had. Also its important to the devs for all pirates to have an even playing field so those additions I just do not see happening anytime soon.

  • @brahboy2284 2 days is nowhere near enough time to experience everything in Adventure. Have you gone to the Bilge Rats commendations menu yet? Completing those alone will take you weeks, if not months to complete.

  • @d3adst1ck Thats what i like, a challange.

  • @galactic-geek the time i played it there wasnt much in adventure, i will take time to explore the new updates and stuff added.

  • @combatxkitty the time i played it the game was new, i will take some time to explore the new updates.

  • @wagstr well yes but, i would like to explore and get to improve while doing it.

Eh?? You do improve by exploring.. That is exactly my point..

Have your adventures and you learn the game while doing so and get that bit better each time. You're on a level playing field with everybody else, only experience separates players.

There is no plotline to this game, it's a sandbox environment so it can't be 'too short' or 'too long', you make a new story every time you leave your spawn outpost.

  • What about becoming pirate legend, that’s something to grind for lol

  • @BrahBoy2284 You played back when it was new? That's when it was bare bones - Rare has added so much since then! Once you see how much was added, and try it again, I want to hear your thoughts on it.

  • @brahboy2284 said in suggestion to improve the game.:

    @d3adst1ck Thats what i like, a challange.

There's no challenge in an upgrade system. You're just automatically better than someone else.

  • @bomber-jane depends how much it would cost to upgrade your ship. I'm sure if Rare put in the ability to upgrade to faster/stronger/powerful ships it would cost a lot of gold. Millions for the complete set I would imagine. Now whether that's paid for gold or earned in game its pay to win.

  • @d3adst1ck Well yes but, there would be a lot of players better than me, pepole who have more experience and better ships than me and getting to the same level as them would be the challange.

  • @isaacmarteen13 What is becoming a pirate legend? Is it just being good at the game or is there a story behind it.

  • @qu1etone so what if it would be millions, I'm not even the richest on the seas and I'm at 17,500,000 Gold and 22,400 Doubloons. If you make improvements too expensive, newer players can not afford it and if you make them too cheap players like me own them all instantly.

I bet there are many people that are better than you and being better than someone else has nothing to do with the ships they have and the gear they own.

They don't need nor want to be given the advantage of better equipment, they want to be challenged and not just by those that spent enough time in the game to buy the gear to match them. They want to be able to meet talented players that can give them a good fight, regardless of the riches they acquired.

If you seek a challenge you wouldn't ask for gear to acquire to crush others more easily. It wouldn't benefit your goal of a challenge in the long run, but by the sounds of it you have no interest in playing the game for long.

  • @brahboy2284

Oh yeah, if you haven't played since launch, the amount of content they added will seem staggering.

  • If you allow people to upgrade ships then the best PVPers will drive off everyone else. Level capping them like in EVE.

  • @cotu42 Whats the point of the game?

  • @brahboy2284 To share in an experience of adventure with friends!

  • @galactic-geek aight fair enough.

  • @brahboy2284 said in suggestion to improve the game.:

@cotu42 Whats the point of the game?

    To have fun.

  • @cotu42 Then you are doing it wrong. Pepole dont put hours on this game to become best at battle and have fun with their friends, they probably yell at their friends for getting hit in the battle. Just take a look at fortnite, the players who are good at it dont have fun they rage and beat their wall when get killed the only reason they still play it cuz they are addicted to it and they have put a lot of real money on vbucks, ok and for the best ones it pays their bills.

  • @brahboy2284 But Fortnite is a competitive battle royale, whereas SoT is a fairly casual pirate adventure game. You're not meant to get so mad you break a wall when you lose while playing.

If you are playing a game as a hobby and not having fun most of the time... then you are doing it wrong. The only reason people keep playing a game is because they are enjoying themselves... for the majority. Because they are being challenged and improving, they are being competitive and having fun with their friends. Playing games is for the majority of people a form of entertainment. The moment it stops being fun and enjoyable, people quit...

    • People like to win
    • People like to be better
    • People will get emotionally invested
    • People don't like to lose
    • People might get frustrated and even yell

Enjoying yourself and having fun isn't defined by not having frustrations or challenges... usually those are the things that keep a game fun to play. You can shout at your team, but go to far and the fun will end... and guess what most people do in those cases; Rage quit! They aren't having fun anymore, they aren't entertained... they might come back and just need a break or be put off forever.

Funny you bring up Fortnite, everyone always starts at the same level and with the same gear. It is a game that embodies as a counter argument to your suggestion, one that has zero vertical progression...

Everyone gets triggered at times, but... the goal tends to be having fun. Even the best players when they don't enjoy the game anymore quit and find a new game to dominate in...

  • @brahboy2284

Here have an example why people even Pro's play for their enjoyment:

Liquid Poach explains why he's quitting Fortnite

Having competed at the highest level since July of 2018, Poach officially decided to step away from the title on March 30 after outlining how the game “just doesn’t make [him] happy anymore.”

“Unfortunately, I haven't enjoyed playing it in a long time and it affected me by not wanting to stream Fortnite,” he explained. “I wanted to stream other games, but I felt boxed in until I made a decision on what I was going to do. That sucked.”

These are guys that make a living out of playing games because of how good they are. Once they stop having fun, they turn to a new game...
