I think that the ship need to have more than one cooking station or a second pan on the oven. Or maybe make it so that we can put more than 1 peice of item at a time on there like 2 chicken for example or 1 snake 1 pork (obviously the bigger meat types like meg meat would only still have 1 on it at a time.) This would increase efficiency for fishing grinding and increse people quality of life so they would not have to wait for so long for the meat to cook.

I wouldn't mind if the Galleon or Brig had an extra cooking station, since they already have an extra cannonball barrel it makes sense. I don't know if they'll add it though, since most people don't fish, it would only help out a small part of the community, so it's probably on the back burner in regards to when it will be added to the game, if it's even a thought at all.One fix I would recommend if you are trying to cook things quickly, go to some of the medium/big islands. Mermaids Hideaway has 4 campfires all in running distance of each other, so you can cook 4 things at once.
