Microsoft is trying to bridge between the 2 generations more so than in the past so will continue Xbox One support long after Series X launches. Sea of Thieves will of course run on Series X (and may even see some graphical enhancements) and will cross-play with Xbox One. Given the player base and how it has been supported thus far, I think Rare will continue offering new content for another 18 months or so before we see a Series X only Sea of Thieves 2. I think the success of Sea of Thieves will make Microsoft want it to become a major franchise for Xbox.

This is a game as a service. Keep buying cats and Rare will keep making content.
