Do you think there should be an afk mode that doesnt let you get kicked, but you don't earn anything, and there is no progression if you are in this mode?

Absolutely not. There are already enough crew-less ships sitting at outposts, taking up ship slots on each server. If you're going to be afk for an amount of time that has you concerned about getting kicked, just leave the game.
