Lazybearded on a solo sloop? Can we fix that?

  • I was solo slooping and got lazybearded while in the pirate emporium on Ancient Spire Outpost. I got kicked from my own ship

Can we turn off the lazybeard option if you are the only player on a ship?

I can understand keeping it on if you got an lazy AFK player. If you are soloing a ship and have to step away, you will loose everything unless you AFK spin. That’s a separate problem altogether. Can we fix this problem?

  • Can't you reconnect to previous session? Besides that, lazybeard kicks in after around 5 mins, if your shopping gets too long, pause it to jump around a bit and resume I suppose.

  • @bloodybil
Lazybeard and I assume other beard errors dont allow rejoin.
I suspect it is to stop afk farming in crews.

Crazy frustrating if you are away longer than expected :(

  • @bloodybil

Lazybeard doesn’t allow you to rejoin your last session. You need to get lagged out of the game

    Lazybeard =/= rejoin
You time out after 10 min.; not 5.

  • True. Would love to be able to go afk without the fear of being disconnected when I come back. Sometimes you need to do a break which might take you 6 minutes.
Also, please change the lazy stuff all together.
When my crew mate is saying „have to bring the kids to bed, this will vary each time, and most of the time it requires him to rejoin the game.
Please make it a „PlayerXYZ became inactive. Do you want to kick them of the ship? Go to crew settings to do so. If not, the will stay aboard.“

Oh well, good to know, 10 minutes is still pretty long though.

Emporium can be browsed from the main menu without being in the game.

  • Yea it’s not like you get any guaranteed benefit from afking like other games. You run the risk of getting ambushed at any time.

I think you should be able to remain afk for a while unless you get killed and the ferry of the damned afk kick is a lot quicker. So as long as you play it safe you’ll be ok but it’s risky

  • @bloodybil

I’m aware of that. I have been playing this game for over a year now. You can also view the pirate emporium on any outpost over the order of the souls tents.

How I view the pirate emporium isn’t the problem. The fact I got Lazybearded when I was the ONLY person on my ship, that’s the problem.

The Lazybeard effect should be disabled when you are the only person on your ship.

I disagree, if you had 3 solo sloops on a server, and they all decide to take a break at the same time, the remaining 3 ships have a lot less chance of player interaction, which is not fair on them.

I know that, I actually met you on the seas over a year ago!

And there is a solution, simply move once every 10 minutes to avoid getting booted off.

The Lazybeard effect should be disabled when you are the only person on your ship.

Cool, so I play solo, I get in an alliance with another ship and I can successfully AFK farm and make gold/rep all day with no way to boot me from occupying a server slot?

  • That would be so useful. Have been unavoidably caught a number of times where its taken longer than expected.
Even double the afk time would be great for QOL

And be in a server full of AFK players. People who are not playing SOT but having their tea? Dropping their kids off at school etc?

    No thanks.

This would be a good way to do it. Good idea.

  • just close the game complete and you can rejoin your session.but even solo players stress the server so its aight to kick you as well;)

  • This happened to me (again) just last night... 🙄

I was having a great session with a crew, 1 of which was new to the SoT. Anyways, he discovered the wonderfully funny text descriptions of just about everything in the game in the menus.

So, he asked me to read them aloud to him, since I had the most cosmetics - this was a wholly unique and new experience in SoT, even for me.

Sadly, because I had so many cosmetics, I spent more than 10 minutes in the same menu, got Lazybearded, and couldn't reconnect to my crew because I hadn't learned their exact gamertags, and the recent players list hadn't updated yet for some weird reason, leaving me completely unable to reconnect.

My crewmate never got to finish hearing all of the funny descriptions simply because the game thought that I had stopped playing when nothing was further from the truth - we were just playing our own way in the sandbox. Why should we get punished for that, especially when we're still active (even if it is only in the menus)?
