Since we have a ship set for Banjo and Conker... why not having a reference to the first pirate game of Rare, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest? Yeah, yeah, Nintendo stuff blah blah blah, but... would there be any problem if we had not only a ship set based of the Gangplank Galleon or a clothes/weapon set that resemble the one used by the Kremiling Crew (which they're probably coming out, soon or later, seeing how we got the Banjo and Conker's sets) but... i dunno, the Gangplank Galleon theme (or others, like Jib Jig) to play with the instruments or an island that could resemble Crocodile Isle?
Theorically, I don't think so... In my opinion, there must be some Donkey Kong Country 2 reference somewhere in this game, like a tune, a set or even a rock painting would be nice to have, at the very least.
A DKC2 reference
@ml-khed Actually Rare was the developer on the NES remake of Sid Meier's Pirates which was re-released on the NES under the title Pirates. This release came out in 1991. A full 4 years prior to the release of DKC2 in 1995. Rare has been in the pirate game a while for sure.
@ml-khed I'm sure we'll get something similar in the future - maybe not with the same figurehead, but something to denote the game as a whole. The only thing stopping them would probably be Nintendo itself, similar to why they can't do a 007: Goldeneye reference (which there is a sweet irony, because they essentially just gave us the "Golden Eye" of Reach for the 2nd Anniversary. Personally, I was waiting for:
- Perfect Dark ✔
- Viva Piñata ✔
- Conker ✔
- Killer Instinct ✔
- Battletoads 🚫
4 out of 5 so far isn't bad by any stretch and with Battletoads releasing a new game soon, it's only a matter of time before we see that 1 in the Emporium.
