  • VR is becoming more mainstream. Finally we're getting AAA titles and headsets are beginning to sell out in stores. I really believe this game can greatly benefit from VR. It will in a way, future proof it, especially so in the PC end. In my opinion, much of this game revolves around social aspects. It would be perfect for VR. As of now, I rarely play because there is a lot of pauses in the gameplay going island to island. I really think VR will fill in the void, because it will be more of an interactive experience than simply doing the same emotes every single time. Also VR headsets come with microphones... no more silence.

  • @trenix90 I think you’re underestimating how difficult that would be. This game was not designed for VR. It is very graphically intensive, mostly because of the water, and only insanely powerful computers would be able to run it, maybe. Not to mention the fact that everything is multiplayer so you’d have way more people complaining about the cross platform aspect of the game.

I agree it would be cool to see a VR SoT but it’s incredibly impractical.

  • @netrovek Choice dosent have to be practical as long as they wont have advantages and it is a challenging to built but it dosent sound's impoasible to me. But i dont envy those players with VR they wont be able to keep up with other players, everything will happned too quickly around them and lets not even mention the motion sickness........
My girlfriend almost puked the forst time she sailed with me in the normal game lol players will need to have a strong stomach for that.

VR would be really really cool.
For those who have experienced VR, being able to do this in SOT...wow.

I use VR a lot. I suppose im one of the lucky ones who dont get motion sickness. I used to, But i effectively cured myself of it by constantly using it. The game i played was fun so i couldnt put it down and forced myself.

Eventually i think my brain just got used to it and now i dont feel dizzy anymore.

I miss it too, because feeling disorientated whilst flying a space ship kinda was more immersive than not feeling anything.

If you ever feel motion sickness, you may be able to push yourself and slowly but surely remove comfort levels one by one, like i did.

Then, you’ll find you miss the immersion of being woozy haha.

  • @daringclarky Ive got VR too i love it i think it could be amazing if built right.
My girlfriend almost just for sailing with me in the normal game i couldnt stop myself from laughing and we got crashed on an islsnd, lets not even mention VR.
I think that it would be difficult for some but it dosent have to be fun for everyone.

  • @faceyourdemon Man i wish my girlfriend would play sea of thieves with me.

    Yours is a keeper.

Mine only plays boring games like solitaire and Majong 😁😂

  • @trenix90 VR doesn't make sense for SoT, especially not financially.

Microsoft does not have a VR headset for Xbox. Since 70% of SoT players are on Xbox, that leaves a mere 30% of pc players with access to this feature. How many of these 30% have a decent enough pc AND a VR headset at hand?

Besides, it would be weird for a microsoft-owned company to push for VR when the parent company has shown no ambition to explore this market for the console. This game has many needs. VR is definitely not one of them.

Also: There are already quite a few threads on this topic.

  • @l4chsfps Let us fantesize!
I know it wont happned but it can an amazing experience breath in Sea of Thieves in VR, i want to step my dog's tail when im about to fall from the crow's nest and vomit all over the house when im sitting at the front of the ship with wind into my sails.

  • @l4chsfps VR is the future of gaming though.
If it doesnt get embraced thats fine but there will be a “me too” game that will likely be a cloned version of the game, perhaps a slightly different style with VR support.

    Might not be ships
Might be flying ships who knows?

But games especially ones that are popular get recycled and remade and cloned.

So it may be worth looking into it.

  • I own 4 four different V.R. devices and I LOVE V.R. I also can't stand when people say 'V.R. just isn't there yet".

...BUT, I can't imagine a way that SoT would work (in a playable way) in V.R.

  • @dislex-fx If they could get move controllers to work, making the jump to vr wouldnt be too hard.

No mans sky managed to do it with a relatively small team.
Imagine what a studio the size of rare could achieve?

2020 is going to be a good year for gaming.

  • Dramamine sales would skyrocket!!!

  • Seasickness, the new reality.
