Ok lets be honest it felt great when we all hit pirate legend right? Well after a while we all start to think of what comes after that glorious level 10 athena's fortune level. I am wondering the same thing. I was thinking what if we had to have all the factions max level and we could achieve the level of pirate lord instead of just legend. Let me know what you think about this idea by commenting. :)
What should come after Pirate Legend?
@beastyboss109
I'm sure a lot of people have thought the same thing at one time or another. Myself included. Seems like something most of us could agree on.I always imagined after reaching A10 as a legend, and after completing the shores of gold, the pirate lord would recognize your achievements and offer you an opportunity that would help both of you. Working with the ferryman, the pirate lord would unlock a tall tale tasking you with traveling to the sea of the damned and helping the Athena's fortune guild set up a foothold there. Eventually leading to the sea of the damned being its own open world environment to explore, along with its own set of unique voyages, factions, and reputations exclusively for pirate legends that are A10. This could be the start of some legend end game content so many people have wanted for so long.
Maybe even including factions that are opposed to one another forcing players that choose between them into pvp scenarios with each other. One faction being the ghosts of people still clinging to their humanity in the afterlife, and the other being skeletons that were people that fell victim to the curse, both of which are fighting over control of the sea of the damned.
@beastyboss109
The idea of becoming another Pirate Lord isn't something that will happen, however your idea will work under another title. There is one Pirate Lord, unlike the Skeleton Lords, however those who reach Athena's Fortune reputation 10 are still looked highly upon by him. The 'Guardian of Athena's Fortune' title seems to be a version of this.@testakleze
That could work for all legends, or just those at AF 10. It would certainly be that bit of 'endgame content' so many ask for. As for skeletons and ghosts, perhaps that could be an EvE thing - the skeletons do not function as people do, and the ghosts have their own motivations and are stuck in their own place, unable to return, however they both represent souls within the region, with the skeletons simply being older. The pirates would represent a third faction, working for Athena's Fortune in perhaps another few, like say 10 or 20 levels for it. Still gaining access at 10, you would then be able to continue leveling up, be it by normal activities for commendations and Chests of Legends in the above world, or something entirely different below.@ultmateragnarok
Having the ghosts being an enemy similar to the skeletons would certainly give us a new and much needed land based enemy. Maybe even see ghost ships as threats looking like the ashen dragon and acting like a skeleton ship. Imagine getting into a battle with a skelleon and a ghost ship and witnessing them firing on each other.Seeing ghostly ships on the Sea of the Damned is all well and good, but it takes specific magic to have ghosts active on the Sea of Thieves itself. Having there not be ghost ships there, but still be skeleton ships on the Sea of the Damned (perhaps a specific type of one that has been sunk and stayed? They do have minds of their own, so theoretically could do so, unlike normal ships) would also help with the idea of it really being legend-specific content. It also would somewhat mess with the feel of the Sea of Thieves to have ghost ships and ghosts be in it too, while they would feel right at home in the foggy expanses of the Sea of the Damned. Perhaps the skeleton ships would come from the Sea of Sorrow, where the Ferry of the Damned sails and souls go when they die, and the ships sunken and taken by the Ferryman are kept before their replacement. I would like to see that battle going on, the EvE would make it feel more active as an ongoing power struggle between the two factions. Perhaps pirates could assist raids on strongholds or fleet battles, with or against the side also attacking it at the time? There is so much potential here.
You early PLs rushed through the game instead of taking it slowly, then got confused and annoyed when there was nothing left. It was made to be a long-term goal, achievable by casual players, and then was put to the side while the rest of the game was completed - it was released about a year earlier than intended, after all, so you should only really have started the journey after Anniversary. Plus, those who were around in year one have limited-time cosmetics - and some pretty nice ones at that, as well as getting that golden legendary skin set. You can't say that anything that comes after PL should only be available for year one PLs when the game has a planned 10 year lifetime, since if that's how few of the community it'll affect, why bother with it, and if that much effort is put into it, why waste it on so few?
@beastyboss109
As a legend Athena 10 for a long time, let them first make being a legend actually glorious as you state.
Nearly nothing changes when you hit the end stage, you get a gilded voyage from time to time, you get access to the hide out and Athena voyages which are just longer versions of the others.
Before they start adding titles and levels for the sake of people seeing numbers go up, maybe they should add more to actually being a legend?
You know things like the batcave like docking they hyped before launch, the once you hit legend it is just the start of the experience... of what exactly other than continuation of the activities done previously.
Perhaps you become so hungry for power you seek out a cursed treasure that corrupts you and turns you to a skeleton, yet you reject the skeleton lords so are seen as an enemy of both worlds.
It unlocks skeleton ship cosmetics and pirate cosmetics but gameplay stays the same , except as a skeleton all the npcs are scared of u and are really on edge when u are close.
@beastyboss109 maybe a pirate king, that way we dont have to take away from the legend himself.

i like the idea of a PL specific area like this.
@beastyboss109 I personally just sail around helping new players and meming about. I find it so much more fun as I really don't care at all if I turn my loot in. I will go and just hand it out to new players every once in a while and will go and do really stupid and crazy things that I wouldn't normally do if I wanted a productive play session but they can be quite fun even if you get almost no reward. Basically I would just play the game for the fun of it and not really care about the reputation and the like. I wouldn't really bother grinding for everything new unlocked by PL but would instead just do what you feel like doing and if you eventually reach A10 or the commendations good for you.

^^ This is what I was thinking right here. PL 10 can either become ghosts that can still play pirate or become Skeletons having their own agenda of things like supplying the forts or protecting the fleets from lively pirates of the region. You no longer sail upon the waves but under them and rise out of the water to attack other ships. You still have to gather your supplies and stuff like normal and are still attacked by Meg and Karen as well.
Im glad they gave us year one pirate legends some cool exclusive cosmetics especially considering they seriously dropped the requirements & grind we undertook. Two week pirate legends are the same as a default/new player in my eyes. Especially when im posting LFGs to my mega alliances.
I think year one athena 10s should of also been given exclusives since that grind was made easier also by FOTD. Its unfair to those who collected all 90 something athenas the hard way. Especially considering the legendary commendations came out after we were done & we had to go back & re do stuff. Seems like this game only truly benefits sea pups.
Why should someone who had it sooooo much easier be able to have all the same cosmetics i do? There should be something cosmetic to differentiate easy mode PL10s from hard mode PL10s aside from the skill gap.

I can be the super legend and I want a cape.
And a shrubbery.
and ni

Well, here in Florida, you move into a retirement community where you drive a golf cart to steal supplies, try to cheat at shuffleboard, and threaten to sink other pirate's golf carts with broadsides of vitamin bottles.
The kraken only attacks if you drink to much of it and the megaladon is served, fried or grilled, with cole slaw.
Ill gotten booty....nope....not going there. TMIYour solution after PL is to go to the Sea of the Damned? There's nothing out there! That's why they're Damned! That's not a reward! That's a punishment!
And ghost ships!? We already have those! Can you hurt them!? No, you can't! Why!? Because they're incorporal ghosts! Why would you want to start a fight against something you can't possibly win against!?
These are not the grandiose plans of a worthy pirate Legend! No! These are ideas put out by the town drunkard who's had too much grog for his own good and that clearly can't, well, think clearly!
SMH...
You gotta do better than that, I'm afraid.
@gatorwocky said in What should come after Pirate Legend?:
@butterybarnacls Gotta get that Meg early as a blue plate special while wearing socks with sandals.
That's right! Clothing cosmetics will be limited to Bermuda shorts, socks with sandals. (I thought black socks but my fiance tells me it's white socks these days) and lots of pastels.
But, you can work on the New Snowbird set, the Jimmy Buffet set, or the Avid Golfer set which includes the nine iron cutlass.There are the ghosts shown by the Ferryman's lantern, and then there are the ghosts akin in function to the Pirate Lord and his crew, or the Ferryman and those aboard his ship (including dead pirates). They can interact with corporeal objects, including incoming bullets. Whether they can be killed is another story. As for the Sea of the Damned, it's not the Sea of Sorrow - the Sea of Sorrow, where souls go directly after death, is indeed an empty expanse of corrosive sea, capable of stripping the mind and body away, inflicting the Curse of the Damned. The Sea of the Damned as a whole, however, is a form of afterlife, which can be returned from through the Sea of Sorrow, which allows you to inhabit your remains, or through the portal aboard the Ferry. It isn't a region of the damned's punishment, merely a sea for the dead to roam.

Nothing. If something else comes up, only year 1 PLS should be able to get it.
Us early PLs got forgotten about.
Let's gatekeep content based on when people started playing the game. Sounds like a great business model.

Now you're wanting to gatekeep me because I haven't been as active on the forums? I started playing in early January because of Summit. I've put in a few hundred hours since then. Seems a little absurd that you think that would be a good idea.

@admiral-greyjoy thats what I was thinking too because back in the first year of this game it took a helluva long time to get to pirate legend because of what the requirements were and thats who we all used to look up to in game. I was thinking how about another level of legend that takes the same amount of grinding as it used too so that new players actually have something to look up to and learn from again.

@beastyboss109 captaincy for flips sake
What would captaincy actually do for the game? I'm having a hard time seeing how this would be beneficial to the game.
