For the Musical Pirate....

    So playing music is one of my favorite touches in the game so far. The fact that subsequent instruments play harmonic parts to bolster the first... ah, I love it. However, I'm sure many have felt as I do that we need more instruments. At least four would be great--one for each of the [current] maximum crew. I have a feeling that this is in the original ideology of the developers, but I am slightly scared that it will find itself on the chopping block. Please don't take the music!

    Instruments I would like to see:
    Flute (utmost priority. I am a flautist in real life.)
    Fiddle
    Drum and/or tamborine

    I understand the composition and recording can take some resources, but I vote that it is absolutely worth it.

    Other piratey instruments people envision?

    Yeah so for this pirate game to be complete in terms of “social lubricant” as it were... we’re gonna need pan flutes. Maybe even lutes. But we can’t do without pan flutes.

    @farfignu Yup would definitely like to see a flute/whistle and a fiddle. A drum would be good too, maybe with a 'combat only option' when another ship is in view to 'Drum or Beat to quarters' to allow another way to notify other crew of possible impending engagement.

    Really would like more tunes too. Old naval tunes like the hornpipe etc. but old shanties too.

    All I need in my Pirate life is a Violin, a perfect instrument to express yourself whenever its for the one moment you get lucky and find lots of treasure, or as your final tune to the ferry of the damned

    I would like a small hand drum. Much like your character gets in Elder Scrolls Online. They just hold it under their arm and hit the beat.

    I would like to hear the songs "yogurt" (without words) just sounds that sounds good, with 4 different voices man / woman who sings in hearts.
    and of course big drums for playing rhythm during an epic battle

    @farfignu I think that you should be able to find pirate songs (A.K.A. shanties) around the ocean in bottles or on islands sorta like what Assassins Creed Black Flag did except for they'd be items that you could put somewhere on the ship and in order to equip them you could take out your instrument and press a button while looking at the song so that instrument plays that song. Also, since I don't think any of us want our shanties stolen instead of them being items there could also be a shelf in maybe the captain's cabin where they will go to and this also allows the whole crew to have access to the shanties without it getting stolen.

    Music was a big part of the gameplay for me, i'm generally a very musical person and i just love to be the musical pirate setting the mood. I used to play sad music when we left a mate behind or just won a hard battle, i play adventure music when we go on an island to finish a journey, i play party music when we are on the ship on a long travel. All of this without forgetting to always help where i can.

    The problem is that i felt how some people where annoyed by it at some point. Normally i'd think - ok this guy doesn't like music, he probably lacks a soul as well, not my problem. But actually i can understand it, there are only 4 different songs and they may become boring at some point. (Not for me, played for 47 hours and some of the songs still play in my head)
    Please rare, add more songs, add more instruments. Music was such a perfect addition, with some more work it can become even more relevant. Also music is what i use when approaching peacefully other players, it means "i'm just here bringing my music, if you want to shoot me then try, you will most likely fall but i will no longer bother you after that."

    @zenzuki I honestly have no idea what's going on in that pic. I grabbed it from Google because it's actually surprising hard to find a decent picture of an ESO character using the drum emote. Lots of lute pics, but no drums.

    Playing musical instruments is what drew me to the game, well.. that and other things..

    Ever since I knew of the multiple songs, I dreamed that Rare (in the future) would add some type of musical progression where you can go pursue legends of songs or something. Who wants to gold hoard, or kill skeletons? Nah man, I dream of being a pirate musician who knows twice as many songs as everyone else.

    Ahhh... a man can dream.

    @erinom3 There will be more songs in the final game than just those that were in the alpha. So there's that at least.

    Ah ok, gotcha. Yeah that rings true, as my (and all my fellow ESO buddies) go to instrument is the lute.

    I'm pretty stoked that SoT is actually doing (out of the box) what I've always wanted ESO to be able to do, and have anyone playing musical instruments to "sync up" during songs.

    Never made sense to me that we'd all be just wailing out different tunes while playing together.

    Maybe Rare can throw some code at Zeni so they can figure it out! haha

    I had a idea while i was playng the game.

    The music was fine but are only 4 o 5 songs and only 2 instruments, the instrumens what you can buy whit gold are kind of usless because are the same songs but the instrument is "prety".

    My suggestion is, when you buy an instrument whit gold, you will play new songs.

    More musical instruments and songs in general would be awesome.

    But what I would like to see is using these instruments in game to create/compose your own music to save and play when ever you want. So your pirate crew could play your own war songs or music in general. Personally I think it would be very innovative.

    Shamefully, I just realized that the STARZ original series, Black Sails uses the Hurdy Gurdy in its OST and now I have to watch the whole series over again to hold myself over until the beta.
