New Doubloon System is Unbearable...

  • The idea of a dedicated Doubloon Shop isn't the issue, but the FOMO and limiting nature of the new Doubloon system and item rotation are awful and have effectively alienated doubloon access for the casual player. I can no longer play the game at my own pace and be rewarded for simply playing the game. The new system now forces players to actually time manage when and for how long they play the game for items that will disappear if they don't. Some of us have jobs and a life and are being punished for it with this new system; it's terrible.

  • To be fair, you have a year before those items disappear, which is plenty of time if you can't commit to longer play sessions or have a life outside of a video game.

This is my main issue with the game lately. Instead of enjoying myself and playing the game the way I want to, I have to do saisonal deeds, take part in hourglass fights (which I don’t really care for), I have to participate in some other time limited event or I have to finish all seasonal commendations, because it usually gets way harder to do once the season is done. Otherwise I will miss out on stuff.

It ruins the game for me, cause it feels more like a checkbox than a sandbox.

  • Meanwhile us normal and causal players have 0 issue. We’re still playing how we want to play and when we want to play.
There is no issue but only those who make it one. The ones who want everything at this moment without spending time, little extra is you will, to earn stuff.

    Digital goods mind you.

I would disagree with 1 year being plenty of time. Sure it seems like it. But if it essentially takes 2-3 seasons worth of weekender doubloons to buy 1 season worth of rewards then time runs out fast.

Removing the 1 year time limit, fixes the majority of issues I have personally. Though there still could be other improvements.

  • Best to disregard it till the economy is fixed.
Trying to grind Dubs outside the Weekender(if you are lucky enough to be available on the chosen weekend) is a waste of time.
The Weekender survey will be universally negative so we will shirley see some evolution in how this all works.

Current economy has managed to successfully p*ss off those who saw the benefits of a doubloon reset.

Focus on something else in game - or for me personally I am taking a step back.
Gamepass Ultimate dropped in price at the right time. I have some other games to play.

Honestly I agree with him on this one.

We have a year to unlock all the cosmetics, and getting the doubloons during the event isn't that hard either. Maybe the only problem is the max 3 cap on getting doubloons through completing voyages but everything else is fine.

Heck, I was even happy that we are now allowed to get all the previously unobtainable items from past events.

    Completely agree with this.
Unnecessary to have the items rotate out after a year. I think originally they wanted them to rotate out every 3 months.

I have played for 4 years or so and came into a sizeable doubloon marketplace of desirable items that got me GRINDIN'.
Seemingly enough to earn the Doubloon cutlass which was a pleasant surprise.

Duke's shop could have just been a Year Zero reboot of new permanent doubloon items. Old doubloon items were converted to a good gold sink.

A crucial prerequisite of this is to have doubloons AVAILABLE which ain't the case just now
