Hourglass 3rd partying. Private servers needed for it.

  • They actually need to add a private server for hg. I’m so done, I had a gally bb and the sloop we were fighting show up, 17 streak lost because seemingly people diving to hg wanna be in an open server. Seemingly. I understand the raiding concept, but it actually needs to be in private servers if both parties dove, because I’m here to fight a ship my size, 3 ships at once. It makes the hg grind borderline torture because you know there’s a chance a random ship will show up, and chances are because you are winning the battle they are gonna go for you. Like it’s some super hero save for the other ship. We both dove to hourglass, giving up all loot that we might have had, so why would I ever want to spawn in the middle of a server. In addition, why would I want to spawn with rocks on either side of me and a ghost fort shooting me before I move. There needs to be private servers where it is just open waters, because past the raiding system it’s nothing but constant annoyance not being in one.

  • The reason Arena died was because it took extra resources to run it on top of the adventure world. Hourglass has to take place in the adventure world or else it will be shut down since it'll cost too much to keep running on the side. Aside from that, Hourglass was designed from the ground up to be in the adventure world. I dislike when things like megs and skeleton fleets attack, but I live with them, and to be honest, I deal with PvE things 3rd partying me more often than PvP 3rd partying me.

BTW if you're the type to get 17 streaks you're a top 1% player so you're already doing better than 99% of other players to the point where you should be able to deal with a little more, and you shouldn't be so concerned about the occasional loss. If you can get a 17 streak, you can deal with another boat. The highest streak I have ever gotten was 7, and that was only two or three times, and I have also sank 4 player galleons as a solo sloop, and sunk 2 duo sloops in an hourglass match again, as a solo sloop. I've won solo galleon and solo brig hourglass matches. I can't see how you can get to a 17 streak but then not be able to deal with a little bit of extra pressure.

Hmmmm, A PVP fighter..Upset..because they lost to more PvP fighters. Hmmm...

because I’m here to fight a ship my size

No, your using Hourglass to fight a ship in PvP, what happens during combat is up in the air.

It makes the hg grind borderline torture because you know there’s a chance a random ship will show up

Yeah, Random. Just like any other time you play. Random stuff happens, that Player who dived to fight you? Has more curses than you...or they have better aim.

why would I want to spawn with rocks on either side of me and a ghost fort shooting me before I move.

Why would you be upset about something that could turn the tide to your favor if you think about it instead of rolling your eyes?

There needs to be private servers where it is just open waters

Open Water, No rocks, Islands, or other threats. That horrible and no need to sail around in combat, using the sea itself to help you win is a warfare tactic.

Next time you have a lot of Streaks...expect to lose since your so confident in yourself.

    Remember Kids
Hourglass: Tool for PvP, helps you find a player also wanting PvP without sailing around looking. You got PvP, dont get upset when others decide to join your PvP. (Nobody ever cried when they gave chase or sunk ships sitting still.) xD

  • Yeah so your acting like I lost because the other person had more skill than me, and I lost because they were better. I lost from being fire balled and shot by either side. I was destroying them before that happened, almost sinking them until the bb boarded and repped them. The fact that you’re saying when you have many “streaks” and “more curses than you”? Clearly you don’t do much hg, so don’t comment when you don’t know what it is I’m talking about. Also, never met someone I’ve played hg with who disagrees. And yes when I dive to hg, I plan on getting a fair fight. If I wanted random overall PvP I would raise reapers and hunt, but when I dive to sloop hourglass, I want a fight against a sloop. “Warfare tactics”??? I’m tryna fight with pirate ships not just play ring around the rosy and call it “unique” or “part of fighting”.

Aside from the obvious answer of "this is why arena was closed, private servers are too expensive".

Rare wanted HG to be chaotic and draw in other players. It's why champions are marked on the map, they want you to be third partied. This is just something I heard from a well connected player, but apparently the devs were disappointed that Hourglass became as sweaty as it has. As absurd as it sounds, they somehow didn't expect metas to form in a competitive game mode.

never met someone I’ve played hg with who disagrees

I'm at 4k total in HG, I like the chaos that third parties bring. Most fights are monotonous and third parties bring excitement, even if I end up losing because of it. If it's a good fight with respectable people, I usually end up making an agreement with the other ship to take out the third party. If they're dirtbags/swabbies, we just take advantage of the third party.

  • That’s fair, I can understand that honestly, after a lot of fights it prob gets to that point, but there should be like a second option for people who want a pure fight with no outside influence, and for the private server thing they are hosting safer seas, so I feel like they can handle it, but I get ur view on it, thanks for being respectful abt it

  • I think there is something to be said about both ships diving going to a separate area, make it a small circle in the Red Sea so it’s not on separate servers. I think if someone is running passive hg in background and you dive into them it should be in the area they are. It gives a bit of a blend to both.

I agree 3rd party can be fun, but it always seems to be when you have a 10 streak or more and up rolls a 3 gally alliance and it’s all done in seconds. It makes the grind a hellscape to lose all that xp and those 3rd party ships get…… some level 1 flags and some supps?

It’s not a reward for 3rd party and it’s usually non hg players. I kinda compare it to the reaper 5 that comes over sinks 2 ships fighting over the FOF and leaves all the stuff behind after they win. It’s just a toxic mindset. Let the players that 3rd party collect the hourglass value and it kinda makes sense. Currently other than ruining someone’s day, 3rd party hg is bad sport in my opinion
