Fight Nights 2

  • A simple, yet fun event that hasn't come back in a while. It would be cool if it did, but maybe with some changes too.

    A Fixed Schedule
Whether it's seasonally, fortnightly, or monthly, just being able to know in advance would do wonders. It could work like Gold Rush, a bonus that's 48 hr period that gets triggered, or be framed as its own event again (now with Deeds tied to victorys, successful turn-ins, and achieving Faction Champion).

    Shifting Tides
The event could have three states that determine the Alligance and Gold bonus. They are:

    • Neutral - Neither side has advantage, and both are encouraging their fighters to take up arms and fight on! Bonus applies to both sides.
    • Guardians - Bonus applies only to Guardians.
    • Servants - Bonus applies only to Servants.
Splitting up the event could also help lessen the annoyance of the endless "A Battle for Honor". By skewing the Hourglass to one side, crews are given the choice to either: play with the bonus, boosting their own progression, or playing aganist it, offering (hopefully) quicker queue times and comm. progress (a higher chance to encounter opposing Faction ships).

It would also be neat if each Faction's Chroniclers would acknowledge the event with new dialogue and finally changing little war map nearby.

  • @northstar404485 First of all, I think the set schedule is a must. Even if it was a thing like every Friday Night they put a 1.5x bonus on HG it would be awesome. Could also do a Friday sloop bonus, Saturday Galleon bonus, and Sunday Brig Bonus (nobody plays brig that's why it's on Sunday cus significantly less play on Sundays). This would help rally the player base behind HG again on specific days. While not a permanent solution it definitely has some merit.

I also like the shifting tides idea, I just think if one side was favored then most everyone would play that side. I don't know how into the "RP" casual players are, but I couldn't see over 50% of them rallying against a side of it directly hurts their progress.

  • A simple, yet fun event that hasn't come back in a while.

Hasnt been a year yet. If anything, I say it make its rounds by same time this year.

Meanwhile, Grogmanay has missed a year. Festival of Fishing been 4 years.

  • I am down for a cadence as long as it has an opportunity to touch everyone.

Golden Hour, as an example, caters to the same folks with the same schedule every single day...then there is a significant portion of the playerbase that never gets to experience Golden Hour because their schedule never aligns.

Have them be every 6 days. That way it's not just on Fridays aallll the time. Some weeks it's on a Friday, some weeks it's on a Monday, some weeks it's on a Thursday.

  • @northstar404485 Honetly make it weekly or every other week. plus the croniclier change might actually give them a purpose

  • @h0b0jo0e I was originally thinking weekends every two weeks, while alternating the boost between factions (technically making it once month for each side).

Alternatively, you could run the boost every weekend, alternating between the three states every weekend (or every day).

The ideal scenario would (hopefully) be to strike a balance so to where it comes up enough to be an “event” for players, but not to common as to just skyrocket people’s progression (i.e. make boosted progress feel like the norm).

  • FYI, Drew Stevens did say after the last Fight Nights event that they were going to look into making it a regular thing, but that they wanted to get the issues around cheating to an acceptable level first. Hopefully, we'll get an update on their progress soon.

  • Would be a good season to do it.

    Controller servers have been poppin'

I've fought more high experienced- sweaty ships this season than I have in a loooong time. Something about 15 brought some feistyness back to the seas and I like it. Some people out there looking to scrap.

Raid voyages have been more like HG matches. Overall that's not good for the content, as that wasn't supposed to happen, but it shows there is a lot of activity out there to have so much clashing early in a raid for world events.

Winning is pretty eh, losing to really solid crews entirely because of their performance is awesome. More of that happening in 15, at least in my sessions.

  • @northstar404485 100% agree

  • Definitely more consistent boost. I'm not sure about the alternating which faction. Only because to encourage more organically balanced matchmaking you want an even distribution of factions being queued
