[ SOLVED/BROKEN AGAIN ] Graphics problem on laptop Part II

  • There was a little (around 100mb) patch which destroyed my framerate again. The onboard and the good GPU behave like before and are used both at the same time. The best thing about this is that the fix with Nvidia Control Panel doesen't work anymore and the workaround with the second screen too! Wow! You successfully fixed my fix in just a few days :D.

    [PART I]
    Hello,

since the last update i noticed some serious problems with the game performance.

I have a MSI-Gaminglaptop with an Intel i7-7700HQ CPU, Intel HD Graphics 630 GPU(onboard), Nvidia GTX 1070 GPU and 8Gb Ram and got just 50+ FPS with many drops down to 30 all the time. I reinstalled the game and now got only 30FPS with drops down to 12 no matter which settings i used. I tried to check if something was wrong with the hardware, updated/rolled back drivers and so on but nothing helped. Also searched for a Virus but everything is clean.

I opend the taskmanager to see what my system is doing while playing. There where no tasks open that used alot of CPU/RAM but when i saw the GPU i got suspicious.

Sea of Thieves somehow tries to use the onboard graphics and the main one at the same time because the taskmanager showed a usage of about 50% on both. I got the idea to start Sea of Thieves on my second screen (big TV) only conected to the main GPU.... Boom! 150+ FPS on lowest settings and 80+ on highest.

I put it in windowed mode moved it to the laptop screen and switched into fullscreen mode again. FPS dropped to 40. I moved the game back to the TV and the FPS started climbing to 60 first and right at the moment where the taskmanger showed 0% usage of the onboard graphics it went to 80+.

It would be nice if this problem is getting fixed somehow.

    Thx ;).

    [Update]

I found a solution for the problem. In Nvidia Control Panel under 3D Settings there is an option called "Open GL-rendering GPU". I switched it from automatic to the Nvidia GPU and now get almost stable 60 FPS on my laptop screen (40+ lowest, 80+ highest on "Mythical").

I hope this helps anyone with the same problem :).

See you on the Seas ;).
