I know of people that have spent thousands of hours in the game and have never come across one. Myself, I have spent hundreds of hours now, and many more to come. I have been keeping an eye out for this beauty since shortly after starting the game, with zero success.

I humbly ask that whatever the spawn rate is for this Ghostly Meg, can you pleeeease increase it, just a tiiiiiiiny little bit? I don't mean to ask that they're set to be as common as the Crested Queen, for then the feeling of triumph upon finding one would be ultimately watered down to nothing. Keep it rare, Rare. 🤭👍🦈👻 But please, just a tiny little bump, just a little one, in the chance of seeing one would be much appreciated. When someone plays for 2000 hours and can't find one, that's a little harsh, I might say. 😢😭

It would be oh so lovely to dispell the rumors that she is a myth and does not exist to 99% of the players who just cannot run into one. At least make it so that if you play for 100 hours, you're pretty much going to see one. Just one, not tons of them all day every day, but just enough that at maybe 100-150 hours of play, there's a very good chance you'll encounter one.😎👏🦈👻👌🌊💙

whenever i read one f these threads i realise that if they do increase the odds 'just a bit', it will not only result in op getting the ghost, and me getting the ghost... but everyone getting the ghost. which kind of defeats the purpose of its rarity.

It needs to be way more a teensy tiny bit. We have not see it sailing all this time. Way to low especially since the complete commendation is for 5.

It is ok to be rare, but it also needs to obtainable in a very reasonable time frame. Sailing as much as many of us do since the Shrouded Ghost was placed in the Sea of Thieves and not seen it once is unacceptable.

Something very rare also needs to have a truly worthy reward. I do not think the reward is worthy either. Also do not understand why their is no commendation for the Wonderous Box of Secrets. My spouse and I did manage to find this elusive item once. Rare really messed up on that. They have commendations for just about everything. Even minor things. They even keep adding commendations for doing the same thing like turning in mermaid gems. Think they could have added at least one for it.

Yes I agree. That's why I emphasized to increase it only a little bit. It should definitely still be very rare, or it loses all value.😊👍 I suggested that maybe if the chances were increased so that if you get 100 or 150 hours in the game, you would likely see one. That still keeps it at a very rare RNG in any game, but would give committed players a nice reward for being loyal to the game.

I'd never thought of that. I didn't know there wasn't a commendation or anything for the Wonderous Box of Secrets. I've never seen one and that's another super rare item, like the Shrouded Ghost. I agree, at least a commendation and a title would be really nice. 👍

Let's say 1 in 1000 megalodons is The Shrouded Ghost. Now, say we do not increase those chances "a little bit". Let's imagine instead that those changes are DOUBLED : to 1 in 500 megalodons. Most players would still hardly ever encounter it; or would do so only after a very long time playing.

What @SpiralOut46and2 is asking for is for the rate to be increased to a point to where they will have a good chance of encountering it in "100 or 150" hours of play. That would not be a "teensy tiny" increase in the spawn rate. That would require an ENORMOUS several-orders-of-magnitude increase!

Rare, please don't do this. If I was to know that the spawn rate had be changed at all, and then - the next week - encountered the Shrouded Ghost, I would feel cheated.

Keep it mythical! Keep it the one real Legendary thing that we have in this game.

Please do NOT increase spawn rate.
makes it more exiting and you can be proud when you actually find it

Wonder how many Pirates have encountered the "Ghost" only to realise they neither have cannon balls or planks to fight the "beastie"... :)

Unless I'm already under attack or running out of time I play with every Megalodon. I met the Shrouded Ghost once, long long time ago. It was a patch day and the patch notes included something about increased spawn rate for her. She was my very first date that day, I never met her again. And to be honest that date wasn't any better than with any other Megalodon.

Well to me this is completely meaningless, you cannot devalue anything that i have accomplished in the Sea if Thieves. No matter if you got stuff more easy or not, but you know that to the most all of this is not meaningless, but instead very important.

The lucky one who doesn't care tells the unlucky one who does care to stop caring to keep the lucky ones happy. When the level of cynicism makes me chuckle, it's always a bad sign.

From one Hunter of the Shrouded Ghost to another: Since you think it's meaningless too, give those who care a realistic chance. And those who think more people "being lucky" devalues their accomplishments should in my opinion reevaluate what their accomplishments actually are.

If you ask me, Rare should remove my commendation and title, make the Shrouded Ghost less rare and make it an actual challenge in exchange for that.

I don't even think about the Shrouded one when I'm actually playing. I just play it and have fun while doing so. I saw a streamer mention it and saw the videos on YouTube and every now and then I see someone talking about it, so I made this. I just meant to make a fun post. Sure, it would be great to see one a little more often than the current RNG of playing thousands of hours to maybe see one, but I apoligize if I came off as being overly serious in my post, sorry for that... 😄👋

Days at sea refers to forum visits not playtime. Some of @SpiralOut46and2's Xbox achievements date back to 30th of March 2018. That doesn't tell us anything about playtime either but it showcases how off going by forum activity can be.

I was just about to say that Crimson, you took the words out of my mouth, thank you. 😊 I started Sea at the end of March 2018, here is my very first achievement won.

I played off and on, off and on, off and on until May of this year. Since then, the new content and changes in the game since release made me really kind of fall in love with it, and I've been on it every day since May now. Hence, why I recently joined these forums. I'm guessing I joined the forums about 18 days ago, that sounds about right. But yeah, I actually started it over a year ago, which also might be a really small factor in the creation of this post lol. 🤷‍♀️😄🌊

And I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their comments, they're all great to read. I completely agree that this should be kept rare, because that's how it keeps its mystery and myth. 😎👌🖤🦈I've played a lot of games, many with some epic RNG elements, but this one might take the cake to be honest lol. I'm not sure, but it's definitely way up there lol.

One good thing that I will say is that I'm glad that seeing the Shrouded Ghost isn't tied to any achievement. For it being a commendation and title, this is good at least in terms of the Sea of Thieves completion. My (very) long term goal is to get the completion with all achievements in this game, and I can't imagine how many more hours it would add to the completion if there were an achievement for killing the Shrouded Ghost lol. For that, at least, I say thank you to Rare. 😅👍💙🦈

I personally have defeated it and dont get me wrong it was awesome but since then ive been lacking that constant hype about something rare that could happen. Enjoy the moment as it is. Sure its a commendation, title and 50 doubloons but after that what is it? Nothing that really means anything other than a really great moment on the seas.

So true, and great point.👍 I agree, it's kind of fun and exciting to always have that possibility of seeing something so rare. Once you get it, that's gone. Maybe in the future there can be something else like the Shrouded Ghost or the Box of Wonders added, for those that have already seen them. I'll remember that and enjoy my journey in this game as it is now, with the excitement lingering at the possibility of proving that she is, in fact, not a myth.😄👍😎👏🦈👌💜

@triheadedmonkey Something should be done about this. For the simple reason that, at the moment the only way for me to collect doubloons is to kill the Shrouded Ghost. Granted I have yet to find fifteen Ritual Skulls, but since I've only found three (I think), I haven't been so lucky with those. Either.

The other part is because, as somebody already pointed out, the SG is tied to two commendations; Shrouded Spoils - Hunter of The Shrouded Ghost (50 db) , and under Athena there is ranked up killing of the Shrouded Ghost.

So everybody's argument, don't change it is sort of moot because until the first SG is killed then not much is going to happen to kill the multitude of SG megs needed under Athena. And sadly, I'm not sure if Shrouded Spoils has an End of Life like a few other Bilge Rats voyages have then it's a must to at least get that first SG to get the 50 db before it is cut off. And that can only be done with a more reasonable spawn rate.

A great point. There are 2 commendations for killing the Shrouded Ghost, one as a regular pirate which you can get any time, and the other is "Legendary Hunter of the Shrouded Ghost" for defeating the Shrouded Ghost 1 time as a Pirate Legend.

While I hope to see it soon, this is a predicament for me lol.🤔🕵️‍♂️ I am not a Pirate Legend yet, but I will explain. ☕🌞IF I ever see the Shrouded Ghost, I definitely want to see it as a Pirate Legend to knock them both out at once. If I ever saw it as a regular pirate, and got that commendation, the chances of seeing it again as a PL is pretty much just... none lol. 😂

I am currently at 50/50/50 for Merchants, Order of Souls and Gold Hoarders. However, as I mentioned above, I am trying to work towards all achievements for the completion in this game eventually. There are achievements for completing 250 missions for each faction. As we know, missions are so much faster and easier to complete if you haven't accepted Promotions yet in the factions. Once you accept the Promotions to the highest rank, to be Pirate Legend, well now that ONE chicken mission you picked up at a very low Promotion level for Merchants can go from finding 2 white chickens on one small island, to finding 6 chickens, 4 pigs and 2 snakes on 5 different islands lol.👍😲😂🌴 So, needless to say, as I'm working on doing 250 missions for each faction, I definitely don't want to take promotions as this will triple my time to do them, most likely lol.

But, by not taking the Promotions yet, I'm not Pirate Legend. I could be, but I'm not. 🤔😅🤷‍♀️ So, going back to the Shrouded Ghost, this isn't good. IF I did run into the Shrouded One now, I'd be happy yet sad. Happy to see it, but sad that I'll likely never see it again so I'll probably never get the Pirate Legend commendation for her now. So now, I hope I see her, yet I don't (until I finish all of my missions and take the PL leap). I don't know if anyone has ever seen it twice, but I've never seen anybody say they did. To put 2 commendations tied to the SG is pretty hefty, now that I think about it, as you better hope you're already PL when you run into her or it may take thousands more hours to get the other commendation lol. 🙅‍♀️👻🦈👌😄🌊🌸

If you've been looking at people's profiles here and looking at their "Days at sea" time, and thinking that that's how many days they've been playing the actual game, I'm sorry to let you know that that's not the same thing at all. Unless someone signed up on here on the very same day that they started the game itself, then maybe it's correct. But "days at sea" is just a fun terminology that this website uses to express how many days you've been a member of these forums. 😊

Like I just now looked at your profile, and it says under your name that you joined 5 months ago. And it says 156 days at sea. 156 days puts you in the 5 month range, so that correlates. But as far as game time, I have no idea how long you've been playing it for. 🌊🌴😎😊

@mentimjojo my entire crew of mates who died to it with the Kraken also upon them will say otherwise. For one of them it was there second time seeing it without it’s defeat.
