Jump spam

  • I feel like jumping needs to have some sort of fatigue type of deal, where the more you jump the less your jumps becomes affective.

  • no absolutely not. Jumping is perfectly fine. Its not fine for those who cant hit a moving target...

  • i agree, something needs to be done. i want a pirate game, not to fight a bunny rabbit bouncing all over my ship swinging at me mid air. its just not skilled, its spam bordering on exploit. everyone loves the lunge minus the players that spam that to high heaven to get kills when boarding. but for god sake. how hard is it to implement a decrease in movement when jumping and landing. take the battlefield series for example. they did this to stop people teabagging, and weirdly. IT WORKS. AND, its realistic, and more skilled than someoe jumping around in a pattern across your ship. the only people being punished are those with high ping/ lag. and the people using this tactic arent incorporating ANY skill or any benefit to the games pvp. this only hurts the game. and could be simply fixed. shocked isnt more on the forums about this issue.

  • Enjoy getting tired every five seconds during combat lol.

  • i can argue that it simply makes the game's combat look ridiculous to a point where it does not look intentional and it does not represent any sort of skill if it is spammed.

so lets say that this has nothing to do with another's lack of skill to hit targets.

combat in SOT was featured to be grounded, easy to track, and with little to no spam. so far this has been the case since sword slashing has a resting point, sword lunging has fatigue when missing a target, each weapon gets one bullet in the chamber, and the recently implemented delay between switching weapons (regardless of people considering the double gun exploit as a skill). plus, SOT itself took inspiration from traditional pirate lore and NOT old first person shooters where jump spam would have been considered as a evasive skill. even more so, SOTs was partly created for steaming and content creators, meaning audiences watching these content creators need to easily keep track of the events on screen.

instead, jump spamming has made combat tedious to track and simply makes the combat look ridiculous. its one of the factors that make people too overconfident when facing multiple enemies, boarding ships, or running away. try doing these things without spamming jump, and the combat becomes far more engaging.

i say there is more reason to limit jump spamming than there is keeping it.

  • Down with Bunny Hopping/jump Spam. It's cheesy, annoying, and borders on exploit. Especially when there is no character collision. An enemy player can just effectively jump inside you and slash you to death while you are trying to figure out where he went.
