I'd love to see a 'speed measurement'. Eg: from the 17th century, when sailors measured the speed of their ship by using a device called a "common log." This device was a coil of rope with uniformly spaced knots, attached to a piece of wood shaped like a slice of pie."
If we knew the 'manufacturers max speed' for each ship type, then we'd know if we were getting close to it (or exceeding it in a gale), and it'd be a great little addition.
*sorry if this has been raised. I searched everywhere and couldn't see that someone has previously raised the idea of a 'common log' speed measurement device.
