Spawn Loot on Floating Debris (Kraken, Meg, Skeleton Fleet, etc)

  • We all know how chaotic fights can be with the Kraken or Skeleton Fleets, which can be really fun! But it is not fun losing all of your loot that you earn from defeating these foes.

The problem is that the loot from these activities is spawned free floating in the water; it is hard to find and quickly sinks.
I propose that the loot should instead be spawned on top of a floating debris platform.

The floating debris platform would function similarly to a stationary rowboat, whereby the platform floats on the surface of the water and the loot is placed on top of it. Players can climb onto these platforms to access the loot like they can climb onto rowboats.

This idea should be feasible to implement using existing technology from the rowboat. It would help with discovery and accessibility of loot, and preserve the loot during hectic battles. And it would probably feel more rewarding, having all of the loot centralized on a special platform.

  • I think the addition of the treasure glint helps a lot and all is needed would be longer times before loot despawning.

  • I agree iv lost alot because of that and i always lose sight when swiming to it

  • Have a crew member stay on the ship, and "spot" for you. Using a rowboat helps too.

This is also basically my response to this. This used to be a problem, but that's partially why the rowboat and entirely why the glint exists now. As far as I know, the loot despawn window isn't explicitly known (as in confirmed to be known), but it very well could possibly do with an increase. Quite frankly, even with the current window, a crew that can't locate that glint and retrieve the treasure doesn't really deserve to. Having a primary spotter is something every crew should have and finding the glint is not at all hard to do

  • I love this idea, but I feel like it would make sharks a bit too easy... I think the skellie ship definitely needs them, I've sunk many but have rarely received treasure for my work. It sometimes sinks too far away, in an unclear area, or the treasure just despawns with it.
I think it might be good for the Kraken, I've heard of people killing a tentacle but not being able to harvest its treasure due to other tentacles, but I've never fought a kraken so I wouldn't know.
The meg definitely doesn't need it though. It's an easy corpse to loot, and swimming under to clean up is very fun.

  • @garrett-2u This is a great idea!
