Cheating boom lately?

  • Ive played this game since launch, im at level 45 at everything, so i knnow the game pretty well. Lately ive noticed that every time me and my crew had a final boss battle on a skull fort, there has come a sloop (this has happened 3 times in a row now, over 2 days). the sloop is crewed by aggressive players, so naturally we fire...

We fire 40+ cannonballs from 4 cannons at the same time as fast as we can, blow up the sloop with two barrels.... but NOTHING.... then i deside to get another explosive barrel and put inside their hull.... There wasnt even a inch of water, the sloop was bone dry, and keep in mind that these guys where dead for most of this firefight... i blow up, most of my crew where killed and our was galleon sunk by them (not the barrel)... in the ghostship i saw both of the sloop players after the barrel explotion. one of my crew manged to hide on the fort, while the rest of us raced back...

while we where on our way back the one surviving crew saw another galleon approach the fort, and of course the sloop with her crew where still there. the sloop sank that galleon aswell. and when we arrived, they sank us a second time... And we are a really experienced pvp crew witch comms.

OHH and yeah, the fort guns and skellys where not engaging the sloop, they ignored it completly.

My question is, have you encountered ships/crews that cant be sunk, or players that hit you with every shot, lately ? or dear i say hackers? cheaters?

  • @goocie send a support ticket here https://support.seaofthieves.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new

once the page loads correctly (just leave it to load for a while) there will be a drop-down menu where you can select 'I'd like to report a player cheating'

Then fill any and all relevant info you can, including screenshots, Gamertags etc if possible.

  • never encountered a ship that cannot be sunk and i highly doubt that you are encountering a cheat that is keeping a ship from sinking.

  • Sounds like you just ran into good players. Also sounds like you aren't as good as you think you are based on your descriptions. It's pretty easy to keep a sloop alive if you know what you are doing and unless you had someone on their boat the whole time to verify these claims that your barrels and cannons somehow don't affect their ship then the most likely scenario is that they just bailed when you were firing loads of cannons and fixed during the fight. This is supported by your story where the only time you are able to verify both of them are dead AND you had holes in them, they sank.

  • To my knowledge, cheats don't effect anything server server side. They usually only manipulate the player itself. I feel confident in saying fort cannon skeletons not shooting them isn't a hack. Fort AI is finicky when it comes to that.

Personal experience when it comes to sloops is they are really tenacious. To give an example, when a sloop scuttles, two players can bucket and drain all the water out. Server has a timer til it simply goes down with no water in it.

Its easy to say you hit 40 shots, however that doesn't imply 40 holes. Without being there I would say it isn't hacks.

  • I never have problems sinking a sloop..it is always very easy to sink them. Probably just ran into some players that are better than you.

  • I've never encountered an unsinkable ship...

BUT I have noticed forts not engaging a second approaching vessel. Maybe the skellies are not spawning? Also noticed forts are not popping up "as often" as the use to. Saw one fort in 6+hrs.

  • @violentandroid That could be due to the skellie ship timers, if a ship is active a fort will not appear until the ships are sunk and vice versa

EDIT: and OP you probably just got outplayed by a good sloop crew. Sloops are very easy to keep afloat.

  • @octopus-lime are you serious?! I now dislike skellie ships like 109x more.

  • @violentandroid I'm afraid so.

Although, if the skellie ships have been up longer than the skull fort respawn timer, then upon the defeat of the ship the fort will spawn instantly.

  • 😢😭

Too many waves! I'm curious what the stats on skellie ships is after the event. It probably dropped like 90%

  • @violentandroid Forts dont pop if dead ships are up.

  • @goocie I'm sorry that everybody seems to be discrediting you but that's mainly due to the hacks we know not having anything to support a ship's health.

I did not say it in my first reply to this thread, but it is literally not feasible for it to happen because there is no cheat/exploit for having an unsinkable ship. Water coming into a ship is handled by the server, and you cannot affect that on the client-side.

If that is not the case this is literally the most poorly designed game ever... but I am pretty sure that is the case.

  • @goocie

Ahoy mates, although there can be many reasons for 'strange' incidents on the seas, if you suspect anything untoward we'd very much recommend submitting a ticket via Support so it can be investigated by the team.

I'll close this one down now because discussions around the possibilities don't tend to result in any definitive explanations.
