About to help someone engaged but was curious if I help defeat it, will I get the credit since I didn't partake in the summoning of the beast?
Do you get credit for killing Meg if you didn't summon it?
Yes, my crew broke all the rules, by accident.
Another crew told us where to go. But we didn't have enough people to summon it. So our plan was to wait at Meg's spawn point for another crew to team up with. Instead, Meg attacked, we fought back, and managed to defeat the monster with just the four of us!
Shortly before we beat it, I used the trumpet to shout for help from a passing galleon. But the galleon just kept sailing.
My crew all got credit for the kill.
On the first morning the event was up I ended up hopping on a random galleon leaving my crew after joining, they carried on doing voyages etc.. and i did the event.
Everyone back on the galleon got the reward for me killing it. Bit of a silly idea if you ask me, you should have to contribute damage to the meg.

You left your crew alone, I assume they were working while you were doing whatever with another random crew. So good that you helped them with progress too.
It was a random crew that had zero communication that weren't doing anything other than standing semi-afk on the ship, 2 members had already left and i decided to go do the meg. I'm not supprised really, just think it would be better for participation from all who want the achievement.
What if one crew member focuses on patching holes and loading cannons?
In other words, they're in the fight, but just happen not to score a hit.
