Can merchants get a way of getting our animal crates back?!

    I just want some way of getting new animal crates back from a merchant so I'm able to finish my missions even if it costs like 50 gold to get them back, it would save so much time and frustration.

    I'm sick of wasting my time doing merchant, I pull up to an island and start getting my animals and even though I looked for ships before getting off one always appears from no where and starts pummelling holes into my parked defenceless ship.

    Then I come back to fight the spineless cowards and they run away. Seems these types of people can only sink parked ships. So I give up the chase cause it's a waste of time and I go to check if my animal crates are still there and they aren't and that means the mission I have is useless and can't be completed.

    All I want is a way to get lost crates back so I can go finish my mission and make some gold rather than wasting half an hour and getting nothing out of it expect -100 coins and - half an hour of my time just because some morons decide to attack parked ships for no reason.

    @mc-rossco Gold Hoarder mission : Go and dig chest -- if someone take it from you, your mission isn't failed BUT you don't get gold and XP.
    Merchant Alliance mission : Take the cages, go get animals -- if someone take them from you, you can still found new cages on island and finish your voyage and get all the gold and xp.

    Where is the problem now ?
    Ho yes it's a bit unpleasant to cancel ourself the voyage when it's too late, instead of just lost everything and nothing can be done about that...

    Why? This seems like a pretty reasonable request. I've had this happen to me a few times.

    What's the point in making a comment like this without giving any reasoning for it?

    @zyrkal I fully understand your point, but the one thing you can't find on islands is snake cages.

    Now if we think about this logically.
    If you are on a GH voyage you dig up chests. Once those chests are in the world they are fair game for anybody to take regardless of if they are on your ship or whereever. Same for OOS. If we apply this logic to Merchant. The creates themselves are the true treasure as the animals are easy to find and renewable. If you were able to get crates replaced, wouldn't it be the same as getting your chests or skulls replaced if stolen, with a new map or contact?

    Food for thought ah.

    Btw. I was up for replacement crates until I over thought it.

    @mc-rossco @Zyrkal only reason not to do this would be people getting like 100 cages and farming that way. easy fix though. say you have four chickens to gather on your mission. if you put four cages on your ship and grab another its still free but one of the ones on your ship disappears. so you can always grab them but you can only have a max of what is on your merchant list.

    i think it would be fair. certainly not a game breaking mechanic if done this way. it is very annoying. it would be like if you were doing a gold hoarders mission and someone killed you or sunk your ship and you lost all your maps. you could just go find a message in a bottle right? lol trying to find cages on an island is not a viable option if you need 3 chicken coops and 2 pig cages, it would take forever. youd be lucky to find two as it would be crazy to try to replace maps with messages in a bottle.

    @rich223820 I agree with you to a point here,

    but the difference for me is that with GH losing a chest or two doesn't jeopardise the entire voyage. You can still complete it. Which is important to some people.

    It is highlighted a lot in Legendary Voyages, where the whole thing is binned if you lose a single animal crate (Or you wait a crazy amount of time for the fail). This sort of forces a number of crews to focus on merchants first instead of passively completing them as they go along.

    I personally think you should be able to get an extra crate of each type per day, regardless of voyages, at least then you'd have a chance to recover while not making it easy to farm.

    @revanjstone Canon Cove and Snake Island have almost 90% spawning rate for cages on them. And it's a mix of any cage, @WARSPYDER I found a snake cage once on snake island.

    @zyrkal Are you referring to the one on top of the shrine looking thing? As far as I knew you weren't able to pick that one up. It's possible you found one that someone left there.
