I'm sick and tired of other players. I have never really liked PVP to much and this game is no different. Get quest, complete quest, get reward, get killed by other player and get reward stolen, repeat 3 more times and finally get reward to outpost and make mediocre gold. Really? For some of the ship customizations I'll have to repeat the previous process close to 100ish times to get one ship custom piece. My suggestion/idea is to do something similar to Ark to where you can have a player hosting the game and only the players he/she invites to their crew can be on the world. To compensate for this make all items you sell worth 50% as much as the regular sell price and remove the skull forts. This will allow newer players to start somewhere without getting destroyed by the veteran/experienced players and when the servers go down give players something to do while we wait. Also when xbox one servers go away it will allow Sea of Thieves to continue on.

@kinderscorpion0 play with other friends, be a pirate, steal whatever you can ☠️ You’ll get your revenge
Sorry but I doubt that will ever happen as it isn't what the devs had in mind for the game. I would suggest using Xbox LFG to find a crew. I often play for hours without even seeing another ship and when we do, it rarely ends up in a pvp situation as we sink the other ships before they get close enough to even attempt boarding us.
I'm not a fan of pvp, in fact I abhor it. I got bored of it in the 90's playing quake tbh. Even I will admit that this game would be nothing without the interactions with other players.
Alright concept, but then you would have people just having multiple ships and then just amassing huge amounts of loot in half the time, which isn't what the devs intended... Plus, you'd be missing out on a huge part of the SoT experience, albeit a rather tedious one, but being on edge is what keeps it interesting
@wc-mattman I like danger and the thrill of the constant unknown of whether or not something is going to go my way or not but if I can't even leave my ship for 10 seconds without it being sunk by another player then whats the point? I like a good story and SoT lore is gorgeous also I have always loved pirates since I was a kid. And to clarify on the getting sunk constantly, the repeat process has happened to me at least 7 times that I can count. I've tried all the not hostile methods and even went to game chat saying I'm new and don't have anything better than a seafarers chest but it doesn't stop them. I just want to explore and find cool stuff while having a grog or two while playing shanties.
@kinderscorpion0 monitor horizons and never disembark unless you're 100% sure that nobody will get to you in the time it takes for you to get back
I can understand why it seems like making private servers is easy (Ark has them why cant SoT)
There's however a difference between the type of hosted servers that Rare runs and ARKs local run user servers. Rare runs servers more akin to MMORPG's, game assets are loaded from that server, so if Rare wants to Change an islands position it can do that without a huge patch. Whereas with Ark you have everything on your PC and the server just makes communication between the two clients possible it would be an expensive endevour to close of an entire server just for you alone.
Also since MS/Rare wants progression to be meaningfull they wont let you make that progress easier by hosting your own server and just spawning loot/ ajusting values etc (wich you can do on a local server)
I rarely play Solo sloop so my experience is limited but I have to say the times I do play solo I've been only rarely forced into a combat situation. And if I get sunk I shrug because there's no actual advantage I can buy with the gold so I'll just have more game to play before I get that thing I wanted and playing the game it what I signed up for. (that's just my personal mantra tho).
