Burned by Chest of a 1000 Grogs

    Gents, me and the Cap found a message in a bottle while hunting chests down for the Gold Hoarders. Found a chest of a 1000 grogs from the message. Easily thought this would net at the very least a 1000 gold and was excited.

    Got to Ancient Spire outpost (our favorite outpost) and ole Herbert the Hoarder screwed us by 200 gold. Only give us 800 and some for the cursed chest.

    Now I STRONGLY believe a cursed chest...any cursed chest (current and future added) should net at the very least a 1000 gold. Just a little something I’d bring up to see if a mod or dev would take this into consideration.

    Seeing as how rare they are I expect them to be worth more. I dread to think how many tens of hours I’ve put in since launch and have only seen a couple.

    We sold one for 669 Gold last night... Its a joke if u compare the Prices to the Merchants where u get 1000-2000 Gold for the Gold Animals. And u can get up to 5 Gold Animals for one Voyage. Hit 50 with a Voyage where i had to hand in 5 Golden Chickens and 2 Black ones.

    It's happened to all chests, I'm getting a lot less gold so obviously rare are trying to slow our progression but why?
    Two thoughts, we're progressing faster than expected, by time you reach legend you've already got everything.
    Or it's linked to the soon to be added microtransations.

    I would bet if they did slow things down it will be because of micro transactions.

    the chests got nerfed in value secretly, while i can understand why they did it they should have said something about it.

    was such a destiny 2 move todo, they did that weeks ago tho.

    and why they did it, getting booty of that faction is 3 times as easy to get then any others.

    artifacts, chests are way to common

    I blame the taverns, for selling all their grog for nothing, the independent grog re-sellers just can't compete. Surely you should get the price of 1000 grogs as minimum.

    Here in the Scottish seas we have enforced a minimum spend on alcohol (as of tomorrow I think). This has many benefits, aside from better general health. It also discourages younger pirates from getting together in parks and boozing themselves on cheap grog, bought by the 1 castaway chest they managed to scrounge out of a bin.

    A cost on grog will surely result in fewer ship crashes and a fairer return on trade.

    Gold (and reputation) you get for chest and other treasure turn ins need to be increased for sure.

    @rarden They've already said microtransactions are on hold until after the first lot of DLC and the weekly challenges.

    I haven't gotten 1000 gold or over for A captain's chest since the last maintenance..or maybe the one before. For the first few weeks they would net 900 to 1400. Now I'm getting 600 to 900 every time.

    It's really weird. I almost never see the cursed chest and whenever I do I dont get excited anymore because they are no better than captains chest. They are just normal chest that are a pain to deliver.

    @weedstar-deluxe I have never gotten that much for anything outside a fort chest/skull. Sold a Chest of Sorrows Saturday for 850-ish. Most I've made recently off a non-fort chest/skull was a Villainous skull at 1.2k. But the range on those is insane as well because one sold right after that for 800-ish.

    @eam-samaraka If it was just the seafarers chest getting nerfed that would make sense, still against it, but it would make sense given how common that chest type is(castaway doesn't need a nerf as it was already worthless). Every other chest on the otherhand is somewhat rare and were better left untouched.

    Isnt rep based on gold received? The more gold the more rep. I think each level is tied to a gold amount. So an 800 gold grog is worth the same xp as an 800 captains.

    Am I wrong here?

    As of now I am close to 40 across the board I have found a total of 3 chest of sorrows and 1 grog chest none of them were over 1k .

    @awesomecoreusa Yeah minimum unit pricing comes into effect tomorrow (1st May), as a minimum they have to charge 50p per unit of alcohol.

    ARRR Why is the rum always gone?

    Yeah, it is interesting but there is no actual connection between gold and rep. If you want the most gold per rep gain you want to only turn in the cheap chests. If you want the most rep for the least ammount of gold only turn in rare chests.

    As such: stronghold farmers actually end up getting far less gold per level gain than grinders do.

    Merchant voyages are a little weirder as there is a difference between active voyage turn ins and non actuve turn ins
    Ie a chicken turned in for fun is less rep and gold than it is turned in for a mission.
