Cheating in SoT on Xbox One is not a thing...

  • @cpt-peach-beard Good one dude. Even more relevant input.

  • @rdizz Oh yeah, I forgot we can rubber band afk on the ship of the damned an' grind while we sleep...

Also... y'all know the term PC M*********e was coined a joke to make PC players look like a*****s, right? (I can say that, can't I? they say it in Guardians of the Galaxy...) PC players who refer to themselves as the M*********e... yeah ye kinda proving the joke.

Going to start referring to meself as a member o' the SNES M*********e. Bring back Uncharted Waters!!! Oh wait, they already did an online version...

@stew360 So all the educated and clueless people believe there are hacks on PC and all the smart and intelligent people know there aren't?

Perhaps you're right. Perhaps you're wrong (about hacks). The way you have stated it has made you lose all your validity.

You make generalized statements about peoples' intelligence and generalized statements about peoples' own gaming experience because it doesn't 'match' your own.

And then you expect the smart and intelligent people to take you seriously.

well if there was so many hackers as you pretend , how is it that i have encounter NONE in my entire careers of 350 hours + o sea of thieves so far ? How come i dont know a single person who have encounter any hackers ?

Maybe its because there is very little to no hacker at all in this game . but there is bug exploiters , and exploiters in general wich are from Consoles primarely and then PC as well

you can scream wolf all you want .. please provide me evidences of your so call hackers ... not randoms video you find on youtube your personal experience with hackers , i want to see it provide the evidence or please refrain making baseless accusation.. aim at defaming a platform in general due to your personal grudge agains said platform

  • @nunoazuldimeter I’m really good at pvp & win 97% of the fights im in so my complaints aren’t coming from a I get no loot standpoint. What’s fair is fair. If I’m at a skullfort with my Xbox crew & a pc crew roles up I should have to tuck tail & run? Nooooo I want a fair pirate fight!!! If me & a pc player die at the exact same moment he should not spawn back before me. If it were milliseconds I would have no complaints but it’s like a 5sec difference. That gives him a head start on repairs, grabbing a barrel, advancing/changing positions, raising anchors. Why should the majority be at the mercy of the minority? All we want is fair play we want to play with people with the same hardware as us. Why are PC players absolutely against FairPlay with players running the same hardware as themselves? We aren’t asking for y’all to be completely locked out we just want an option. Why are we undeserving of a level playing field?

Well all that non sens ... PC hardware , range from potatoe to insane rig ... there as always been discrepency in the hardware between various PC players , there is many pc who barely run this game at 40 fps or even 30 fps

So the reality is the " discrepency between rig " does not guaranty any meaningfull advantage to the point where it become the big deal as you pretend ...

I can see very well your ignorance on the matter ... Yes a PC player with a insane rig will have a better quality experience but so as the XboneX players versus the Xbone player ... as for MKB vs Controler in this game its irrevelant because this game as such slugish snipers and such ridiculous effective range . that it does not grant any meaningfull advantage to play MKB this game isnt counterstrike ... also the tickrate and the ping in this game is so atrocious that it create some of the most ridiculous senarios possible ...

I play crossplay and i have no problem with it , my friend play crossplay and on both platform Xboxone and PC and he is as good on both platform all he notice is that having 30 fps is ridiculously anoying for the eyes at first and then he get use to it ... its about quality of life stuff more than real meaningfull advantage ...

Splitting the already very small comunity will be a disaster for this game ... your " PC boogieman " is a joke ... and your entire comment start as if you pretend to be unbias but the further we read the more BS goes on and on ... and we clearly see that you havent seen any revelant data on the matters , MS as studied very closely crossplay in gears of wars 4 and the result as been not what you could have expected , there was actually somewhat of a parity between the platforms when it come to efficiency on average because the game design for controlers actually help with aim assist and sensitivity reduction on target etc.. and tweak for a controler .. ...

  • I play on Xbox, I find the notion of cheating on a multiplayer game frankly ridiculous, but I haven't knowingly come across any cheats, although I do believe that the existence of any cheats can ruin other people's fun. However, I'm not that bothered, and am still in full support of crossplay because I believe the benefits of opening the game up to more people far outweigh the negatives. I also believe that PC cheaters are a very small minority of a minority, and that Rare will very likely be looking into ways to stamp it out anyway.

While a first generation xbox does have the same hardware as any other first generation xbox, and xbox 1s =xbox 1s, and xbox 1x = xbox 1x when you compare the hardware. PC ≠ PC. A low end PC does not perform the same as a high end PC. What you are wanting does not exist. Only the illusion exists.

Even the xbox 1 ≠ xbox 1s ≠xbox 1x, think about that one.

  • @captain-greyjoy in that case.yoi just need to adapt yourself. They have advantage over FPS aim and movement okay. They don't have advantage over sailing the ship, on dealing/taking damage.

Improve and get creative. What came from us doesn't depend on any platforms. Be one step ahead of them.

I need to say the truth, if it depends on my skill on killing other players we would never win anything. But my mate is very good at it against PC and Xbox player. We just fill the gaps from each other. If it depends on him we would never had a ship to sail, and would have all the opportunities to do what he can do. Because it's my thing, sailing and creative tactics.
I can say, we never get sink on a battle. The last time we sunk on a session together I can't even remember. And we take down everyone. Galleons, Sloops, Xbox, pc.. doesn't matter, as long as our way of play isn't stricted by that.
Every ship is sinkable, that's what matter, they can't go anywhere and carry anything from us without one. And that's the main mast of our partnership. Maintaining our ship safe and sinking other. We don't wait for nobody to personal combat on foot. We take a false defensive position. We've adapted. We play for the unexpected and prevent the expected from everyone else.

    I play on PC.
    I use a gamepad.

Why torture yourself like this? Why you hate yourself that much? If it was a racing or flight game i would approve but a FPS?

  • @nunoazuldimeter Aye those are the ways to cope with the imbalance, and I do, but should I have to?

It's like if you were in a boxing match, and right before it began the ref tied one of your arms behind your back, and was like "chill dude, there's no disadvantage here. How about you just man up and get gud?"

  • @bola-satanica I mean my PC has my TV hooked up as a third screen, sometimes I switch it to main and game on that with my steam controller. Its always a good time. I wouldn't do it for something like overwatch but SoT is pretty casual so it doesn't matter really.

I understand but i think you can agree with me on this one. If 99% of the player base was using keyboard and mouse you would still be using a gamepad? Even if everybody at a PvP encounter would have an advantage over you?

  • We have encountered cheating tonight a pc player got on our galleon we shot him hacked him he would not die he then one shot killed all of us sort it out rare

  • @bola-satanica Absolutely, if I don't want to PvP I just sail away from all the ships I see. If I was really concerned about people having an advantage (which is slim to non existent in this game anyway, go go gadget game design) and I wanted to play controller I would just avoid all the ships I saw which is super easy so yeah.

  • @stew360 You clearly have a better understanding of the subject matter at hand. I’m not pretending to be a expert when it comes to all the technical intracancies involved nor do I deny my ignorance on some of the more technical aspects of this discussion. I’m sure a lot of you have a better grasp on these things than I do. Def didn’t reply here to ruffle any pc fanboy feathers. One of the main reasons I got on this tear today is because I seen a YT video of what I presumed to be a pc player cycling through four weapons. Which another forum member Kevin already corrected me on notifying me that was a thing pre launch. I do appreciate any & all knowledge shared by all of you & do try to stay open minded during any debate. You still haven’t helped to change my train of thought though. My point being if certain consoles/pc’s are loading back in game quicker how is this not a clear & distinct advantage?

  • Again I apologize if this was put in the wrong place. I don’t know all the rules to forums. Just a friendly discussion as to why I think crossplay should be optional.

  • @nunoazuldimeter You’re absolutely correct I do need to adapt. That’s where my frustration comes into play because I don’t think I should have to. I however won’t be adapting in the form of overcoming perceived disadvantages. I will adapt in the form of acquiring any teeny, tiny, minuscule, irrelevant, placebo type advantages for myself. So does anybody know what gear I need to buy to become the PC boogie man?

I see, i'm also not a PvP seeker. When i have loot which is most of the time i also run away from PvP everytime, because is easy. PvP in this game is not actually worth it. But if you could not run away? And if you was obligated to engage in PvP combat?(which is not really the case of this game) Would you still use the gamepad?(considering everybody else is using KB/M)

  • As a pirate legend, i dont think there are any cheaters anywhere. I have never seen any cheating at all in sea of thieves.

i cant take seriously all these non-legends claiming hacks.

  • @bola-satanica I don't see why not, I don't feel very disadvantaged using it when I play compared to when I play with mouse. Either way I have to time my shots precisely and lead significantly. The aiming process with the gamepad is a bit different (strafing left and right as opposed to just moving my mouse) but I don't feel like I hit fewer shots. Even when I'm playing on Xbox instead of on pc via steam controller its all pretty much the same. I do however have really good timing for stuff like that, and since this game is 90% timing 10% where your crosshair is its not an issue.

  • I don't deny that pc hackers exist, but I'm fairly sure that the problem isn't as predominant as people seem to think, I've never seen one personally and neither has anyone I've met in game, and on top of that, the whole "pc advantage" argument is silly, again, never had a problem with it, in fact, the few pc players I've met have gone down faster than a lot of Xbox players simply because they have the thought "pc advantage, easy win", unless the whole argument is simply to make pc players over-confident and make them easy targets for everyone else I don't see the problem, at least, not in this game, games like CoD and Battlefield when you can fire a semi-auto, 1-2 shot kill weapon faster than an smg yeh sure, but SoT, no, the advantage is negligible

Let me play devils advocate here for a second.

Do you have network tools or anti-cheating software at your disposal to confirm that someone was indeed cheating? There could be any number of reasons they "appeared" invisible. Do I know what causes this, no. That being said you assume they are cheating because this behavior is not "normal" or encountered enough to be well known enough to possibly be a bug.

Is it possible they were cheating? Yes. Is it possible they WEREN'T cheating? Equally Yes.

And this proves what exactly? Yes the player is invisible, but that can just as easily be the result of a bug, causing the player model not to load properly. I've seen people glitching into skeletons upon respawning, so yeah.

I'm not denying that there probably are cheaters and hackers out there, but it is definitely nowhere close to being a widespread epidemic of cheating

  • @only-alexraptor @Trophy-un1ocked
He didn't appeared indivisible only tonne but to my crew mate as well. And me crew mate.had experience the same thing weeks ago.

He clearly choose the moment to appear invisible. Becaise it wasn't a single time. They were chasing us for hours. He knew what he was doing.

But they were bad they didn't sunk us once even with that cheat.

And was that only guy only.

The other time.my crew mate experience this alone. He was on another session. And even the ship.was.invisible. they knew it and rang the bell just to mock him.

So yeah this wasn't a glitch, was intended and is a cheat

  • @nunoazuldimeter

as others have said, thats a bug.

@perfecshionist said in Cheating in SoT on Xbox One is not a thing...:

While cheating in SoT on PC has been confirmed and videos already exist of streamers catching cheaters, the same cannot be true of the Xbox One console.

Sea of Thieves cheat software, or apps, or any known modifications to the Xbox One that would allow cheating SIMPLY DO NO EXIST AS OF 2018.

The Xbox 360 eventually had a robust modding community.

The Xbox One is still insolated from that due to changes that Microsoft implemented in the design that makes it extremely difficult to mod or hack.

Here is the FAQ from one of the largest cheat sites concerning the Xbox One. The sites entire business model and reputation is based on their ability to provide successful hacks to gamers that want to use them. They have NO MULTIPLAYER cheats for ANY Xbox One game. The only "hacks" that exist were intentionally put into the game by the designers as a feature for players to unlock with codes or in game actions.

    FAQ FOLLOWS:

Is there a way to cheat in Xbox One games and in online multiplayer?
In Short: While getting hacks to work is certainly possible on Xbox One, it is a highly complex process no matter what method you are going for. Unless the cheats are already hardcoded into the game as a feature, some serious external hardware and software is required on top of the know-how and the method to either run unsigned code, hacke the hardware or edit packets correctly. This is the case for both online and offline titles.

Is it currently (2017/2018) possible to run unsigned programs / code on a Xbox One? > NO!
Currently there are no known ways of running unsigned code, any program that is executed on an Xbox One is verified using encryption keys to verify the file integrity. Aside for quickly patched exploits, the chances of execution of unsigned code which would be required for client-side hacks, aimbots, bots ect is currently not possible.

Some Common Misconcetions about Xbox One Game Hacks:
First off, lets quickly debunk some myths that are out there about how to hack a Xbox One:

    1. There is NO USB Stick that hacks your console or install aimbots ect. It simply does not exists and the equipment required once it becomes possible to run unsigned code is way beyond a simple flash drive.

    2. Actual online game hackers on Xbox One are incredibly rare, because getting any sort of cheat, such as packet editing, hacked lobbies or mods to work is incredibly difficult and expensive.

    3. There are no online “generators”, online “tools”, online “hacks” that add stuff to your game be it an online or offline game. Thse are all survey scams and you should simply ignore them.

The Xbox One is a black box where modding and hacking without Microsofts cooperation is incredibly hard by default.

Physically hacking the Xbox: While this has not been done yet, memory editing and executing of hacks is certainly possible through hardware hacks that allow interception of ram data in order to inject hacks directly into the game data on the actual RAM. However, this is another incredibly expensive and complicated venture that so far is only based in theory. Usually the hardware has to develop a lot further than the actual console for this kind of hack to become possible. Nonetheless, it is certainly possible and we are waiting for the first Xbox One hardware hacks.

Either I am confused by the title or you are just stating contradictory "facts."

"Cheating in SoT on Xbox One is not a thing..." then goes to say well it is, just really really hard to do. SMH also thanks @Captain-GreyJoy for reviving a necro thread.

It is so hard to do nobody has figured out how to do it yet. It is only theoretically possible. In hacking protective measures people tend to talk about theory until someone actually proves it. So far nobody has proved it by actually doing it.

  • Yeah, the classic fairy tales by console players.

Lag switch, is even worse than the classic aimbotters, and it happens in consoles of the actual generation.

    The un-hackeable consoles, the joke.

  • @lobofh The Lag-Switch - anything else? PC have infinite hacks. Find me MS products which have a lag-switch...
It's not asking much to be protected from PC hacks or Crossplay entirely. Rare have let s**m ruin their game at the cost of the main player base. Sacrificed to all these hacks and for what?

Although cheats do exist, it's not as bad as many make it out to be.

Wow, 200,000. It must have hurt pulling that figure out of your butt.
Show us the official survey stats so we can all keep an eye on that. Sheesh!
Better yet, video record your game sessions and report the cheats to Rare, Microsoft and / or the bloody Queen of England.
At least show somebody your proof of how much you encounter cheats.

Since playing the beta, then the full release since launch, I have met a total of three PC users in SoT. I cannot account for others on the server outside of my current crew at any given time or day. But let's just make up another big number shall we? Pfft.
Up until recently I was always a random and I ask people what their gaming device is. Even today as a random, I was the only PC user in the crew of four, as usual.

  • Annoying thing is, being a PC player myself. Is ever Xbox player who I encounter calls me a hacker.

Yes some PC players have learned how to hack, but the fact is the numbers are very small indeed. Rare are very vigilant when it comes to dealing with them and 9 times out of 10 when people yell "HACKER!!" it's usually just connection issues, or the player is salty at being killed so blames his/her failings of their own skillset on another player cheating.

Happens in every single game. Expect this game is cross-play so its creating a division between people who play on different systems.

And yes, I would love if cross-play is optional. Because here IS a fact for you salty Xbox players. Your playerbase is 80% screaming children, and 20% mature players. I'd much rather you had your own little servers.
